Kingsnake Pic
She's a beaut. Hanging out in the peach tree that is now fruitless thanks to a 2ft wood pecker. Yes, saw the pecker myself stabbing the fruit. Something has been digging in the potatoes and romping in the onions. Place is coming alive with critters. This is a good snake and more than welcome to hangout - maybe the 15th one i've seen this year. They kill bad snakes and rats, etc....

I don't see many big snakes where I live. They are here, but they hide. I'm wondering if the coyotes kill and eat them.

It goes back and forth in Springfield between the snakes and the weasels. I learned as a political science major that this is called a "two-party system."

If that king snake ever wears out his welcome, I've got a home for it. We have a bumper crop of field mice this year. The snake will eat good here!!!

All I have ever seen were the spotted ones and the black rat snakes.
The snake people mistake for a coral snake is a king snake. Snakes sure have gotten a bum wrap. Worth |

Think this one is a prairie king snake. We have the speckled too and others. I have never seen a rattler here (but supposed to have timber rattle), most of the posinous ones are either the copper or moc. Despite living on the river, I have never killed a moc in the yard, mostly copper. |

Awesome snakes, here in CA they will eat rattlesnakes when opportunity strikes. As well as birds, rodents...... etc.....

Thank you not killing it. I personally don't think any snake should be killed. Even the venomous ones. They can always be relocated. They serve a purpose just like to others do.
