I have many new ones, most that won't be available until my and Shawn's seed offer goes up thisFall.
But this isn't Texas here in NYS so you'll have to wait awhile until I see what they do for me. Three of them are; Eva Ste.Wendell, (Big Beef X Eva Purple Ball Rosedale (CP X Summertime Pink, and PL Little Dixie, has BW,NAR Xcherry in the background. Carolyn

Carolyn, I have some seeds marked as "Big Beef x Eva Purple Ball" that I got from Trudi's formerly available seed offer. I assume they are F1. Is your "Eva Ste. Wendell" a later filial generation of the same cross?
Actually, now that I looked, mine are labeled "Eva Purple Ball x Big Beef", so it is the reciprocal cross. Nevermind then! Last edited by braybright; July 7, 2016 at 03:35 PM. |

And nothing to do with reciprocal crosses as Trudi might have implied with the way she listed it. I have no information at all about many that she lists , nor do I know who sent her those seeds, since so many others send her their seeds, she has no idea if they are crossed,or pure, and makes a very strong statement about that at her website. Mat-Su Express, Sladkij Ponchik, Rebel Yell.
Big Beef from a tilled garden without mulch or irrigation was also really good, because the weather was perfect for it. There was almost no rain at all for the last 30 days. |

Hey, Cole. I hate to tell you, but those first two tomatoes don't even exist.

LOL. Mat-Su Express is AKMark's creation. He has posted a lot of pics of it. I think it's the best red I have ever grown.
I thought there was a tomatobase page about Sladkij Ponchik, (also Sladkiy Ponchik) aka "Sweet Doughnut," but I can't find it. It is mentioned here: http://ventmarin.free.fr/passion_tom...ates_sl_sz.htm Here's a pic of mine: http://i.imgur.com/AQZNz65.jpg |

Skyreacher is beautiful and tasty with nice acidity and complex sweetness but in hot Texas weather it cracks on the stem end. It's best photographed from the blossom end.

I'd call them more of a yellow. When deeply ripe, they are yellow-orange, but not like a lot of varieties that have "yellow" in the name, but I don't like to eat until they turn orange.

Dora is probably my best new variety this year. It was listed as a cross of Cherokee Purple x Brandywine and though planted a bit late it quickly began setting fruit and has matured some beautiful and tasty 10-16 ounce fruits in a tough year for tomatoes in Texas.

all mine are new for me - so far, Creole and Patio have been great! If only my others would go ahead and set some fruit, I'd be happier. Pink Brandywine and Mortgage Lifter plants have bloomed - sadly, my diva Brandywine has dropped some blossoms because it is hotter than Hades in MS - hopefully the Mortgage Lifters, which I have seen are generally ok with high heat - will not let me down.
My Creole has about 10 green on it - it seems like it is taking forever for these to finally blush - i am sure my anticipation has not made the time go any faster.

The best variety so far has been the one that gave me ripe tomatoes
Pearly Pink Orange has been both prolific and tasty. I am looking forward to trying several new ones in a few weeks time, hopefully - Purple Bumblebee and Maglia Rosa at least have fruits on them, and already in their 'shiny' stage .. |
