Pomegranate from seed

Tomato-villain Andrey_BY sent me pomegranate seeds 9 years ago. Now I have fruit!

That is fantastic do you know what kind they are?

Mine all dropped their fruit this year for some reason.
Or something ate them.

They just said Pomegranate- Azerbaijan. Don't know if the plant finally matured enough to produce fruit or if the mild winter allowed it.
Pomegranates do seem to produce sporadically in most parts of Texas.

Yay! Great.

I had a pomegranate seedling some years ago, but it died...
I have thought about trying to grow a micro pomegranate.

Nice to see a tree grown from a seed. When I asked for some tips back thensome years ago, I got plenty of advice how unwise and foolish an attempt it was - how pomegranates don't grow true from seeds yadda yadda.
Your example encouraged me to try again !

They grow great where I live but this year fruit was on them and the next day they were all gone.

Great job! I've got these seeds from a pomegranate fruit bought at our farmer's market. It was imported from Azerbaijan. Pomegranate is a traditional fruit/berry symbol of this country.
There so many pomegranate varieties there with different skin color.

They have even The Pomegranate festival in the small local town Goycay in November.

By the way, what is the height of your tree?

Andrey! My tree is about 8 ft. tall now. It has been in the ground about 6 years, having grown in a container prior to that for 2 years. It suffers a little if we have an especially cold winter or late freeze, but rebounds quickly in the spring.
I hope my pomegranates get as huge as those in the picture.

How large does the Azerbaijan variety get?

So dear tomatovillians it's this time again and I can save some fresh seeds from Azerbaijan pomegranate and persimmon seeds from our farmer's market. PM me if you would like some of these seeds along with tomato seeds, of course))
