Blue Lake Pole Beans
Yesterday, we stopped by the local Feed and Seed. I wanted to get some pole beans to plant. There was one variety to choose from and that was Kentucky Wonder Pole. There were lots of Bush varieties to choose from, but I'm growing on the trellis we built last year.
A worker walked up to help us - I mentioned there was only one pole variety. He said, "This is your lucky day, I've got these Blue Lake pole beans that I can't sell - you want some?" It turns out that their sell-by date was The last day of 2016. So he gave us enough beans to plant at least a 100' row. Here's a link about them https://www.mypatriotsupply.com/Orga...ake_pole-b.htm |

Blue lake is a good bean one of the best.
In a pinch the pinto beans you buy to eat are good too. Just pick them green. Worth |

We planted some bean swap blue lake last year and they really came on late in the season. They just took over the back side of the trellis late in the year, grew against the arbor vitae row, and many were higher than I could pick without a ladder. I kept about 3/4 c of black bean seed from them for this year. That was from 10 beans planted mid June. I will definitely plant them again. Fortex, monte gusto, carminat, blue lake, and emerite filets are definitely going in the garden again.
