It needs to eat and try to feel safe, like us. There are all kinds of coyotes, foxes, hawks, etc... around here. Because I've been in the garden many hours a day for about a month, reconstructing almost everything in the garden, the rabbit (and the babies) likely feel completely safe when I'm around.

I'm the sort when the robins fly in, every day, I stop what I'm doing, grab a shovel, and dig them up some worms. I'm running low on worms this year. (sigh)
You have baby buns too? I have them...at least two nests. One is in my front yard! Silly momma rabbit. I guess I finally figured out where/how the expression of dumb bunny came about. Those baby bunnies are just so darn cute.

Any country boy knows this.
That's the one redeeming quality of my brother's hole digging boarder collie. He skips the first two steps and goes directly to the third step.

Wasn't there an old Chinee proverb? "Softly softly catchee bunny."

So you're there. No 2nd Amendment required.
