Default Double Scapes?

Anyone ever have a garlic plant send up two scapes from one stalk?

I have two plants doing that this year -- or at least trying to. I had to liberate the second scape on one plant in the first picture as it's exit was blocked by the first one. The tip was all accordianed inside the stalk. On the other plant just the two scape tips have made it out. I'm guessing they trapped and I may have to perform a C-section!

Never seen them have two, but I had two that had the scapes not grow out of the stalks and bloomed there, ripping the stalk open.

I guess if you can have double cloves, why not double scapes?
Never seen that, kinda cool

I sent an email to the farmer I bought the seedstock from and I heard back that they've never seen it before. I'll have to see what, if anything these two plants produce. If I get healthy heads, I'm definitely going to replant the cloves for next year to see if it happens again.

Wow! I thought you meant double scapes from a double clove - as in Spanish Roja tends to have some doubles but the scapes do not come from one stem, so nothing like this.
Very cool, do find out if it is heritable!

Got ya beat... Just left the garlic patch, got 3 scapes on one garlic plant, I'll get a pic of it when I dig it tomorrow.

I wonder if the flower stalk has split in the middle or if the two stalks grow separate from the base. Please update here at the harvest time how the bulbs look.

I pulled the triple scape today, it's got a bump above the main head. I'll get more pics when it cures.
