14 days for Cossack Pineapple

Just an observation I thought I'd share. I started Cossack Pineapple seed on Feb. 2nd. Fourteen days later 5 germinated all at once. I had started to believe none would come up.

Tim,

I know of a tomato variety called Cossack, which is a large orange fruited variety, but I don't think I do know of a tomato variety called Cossack Pineapple.\

However there is a Cossack Pineapple which is a well known ground cherry, which is in the genus and species Physalis pruinosa.

Which do you think you might have?

If the seed came from Tomatopalooza[tm], I believe it's the latter, Carolyn.
Fascinating flavor. Eat 'em with a sungold, and you've got a tropical delight going on in your mouth!

They are in fact Physalis Pruinosa. I didn't get them from Tomatopalooza but did taste them there. The seed came from Victory. Craig also sent me some and I started those on the 12th becuase I didn't think the first were going to come up.
The first (VICTORY) have so far germinated 5 out of 7 seed. All 5 came up on day 14. I also started 7 of Craig's seed. We'll see if the germination is notable different. Craig's seed are known fresh. He told me they were from this past summers fruit.

Side note I responded a few hours ago but it obviously didn't post.

Just got home from my trip - amazing - planted 100 cells of tomatoes before I left (last Sunday, Feb. 12) - here we are on Feb 17, and I have good germination in all but 4 cells - 5 days.

Anyway - the point is that I planted a whole slew of those saved Husk Tomato seeds (ones I sent Tim, the Cossack Pineapple) - germination looks to be excellent. Obviously less than 8 days, but since I was away, not sure exactly when they came up!

Does this variety have a good size fruit? The ground cherries I've planted in the past were hardly worth the effort. Bill - In Greensboro NC

They are a little smaller than a dime. Ripe when husk turns papery and tan colored. Some in the picture aren't quite to the ripe stage.
