Growing Geraniums in containers

Can geraniums be grown with just peat moss in planters?

They can be grown in containrs, yes. My Mom has done so for years.. But I'd recommend more nutritious gardening soil than just peat moss.

I use a sterile potting mix not just peat moss. you can but I wouldn't recommend it either.

Kellogg Garden potting soil had some good reviews and Home Depot carries an organic mix.Any one use it?

Geranium is a common name for Pelargonium, but can also mean the genus Geranium.
Which one do you mean?

I bought them at a nursery and they are full sun variety is all I know about them. One did have a label but I’m not at home at the moment

I was told they are heavy feeders so I bought a 15-30-15 fertilizer.Lady at the nursery said use a high middle number.

I bought this one a couple of months ago at a big-box store and it's pretty much doubled in size, but I placed it in a much larger container than it was in originally. Where I live they don't grow well in full sun and tend to poop out when it gets really hot. I agree that they seem to like a lot of fertilizer. The soil I have mine in is just regular potting soil you can buy at any big box store. Good luck! I also have a scented geranium, and scented geraniums are not grown for their blooms, but mine smells like roses.

I've used the Kellogg's potting mix (because it was on sale at Home Depot). I like it just fine.

That geranium likes it just fine too! A nice soft pink. I had a bubble gum coloured one for years. I like that they are pest free ( I say after finding aphids on some salvias today).

Yep, that is Pelargonium, very loved here for generations.
My Mom has them every year, usually deep red, but sometimes a tender peach / salmon color.
I have tried to grow them from seed, but the experiment did not work ... much harder than tomatoes.

Seed geraniums are very easy to grow but if the seeds are not fresh they won't germinate. I grow hundreds of them every year.
