"alakır etlisi" a tomato from alakır region

I believe changethegardener already introduced the variety "alakır" locally named "kopek hayasi". Here some pictures from my garden last year. It seems this variety copes very well with dry weather and cool nights of Ankara (Turkey).

Last year I made a cross of alakır with true black brandywine. I will grow the f1's this year.

Nice looking tomatoes! You say that they tolerate cool nights, I wonder if they set well in cool weather in springtime? Are they as late to ripen as Black Brandywine?

They are medium ripening. On average 5 to 8 oz with occasional fruits up to 15 oz. They were incredible the last two years. Like a cherry almost every flower formed a fruit. To avoid extreme night temperatures I plant late (first week of May) and by that time daytime temperatures become reasonable but we do get lots of winds and occasional cold days.

It looks like they are very productive. What was the taste?

For the taste. I would say if brandywine is a 10 alakır is 8.
