Garden Project Today - Moving Boulders
Well, now that everything is planted - I decided to relocate some of the garden boulders. Of course, the one I had to move 10 feet was also the largest (approx. 500 to 600 pounds):
I initially tried to roll it - but it just laughed back at me. Remembering the old Archimedes quote: "Give me a Lever and I can move the World". Dear Wife had recently given me a pick-ax, slate pry-bar, and Block-and-Tackle (my request) for my 75'th birthday: The end result: One Tired Raybo |

Everybody should get a pick-axe, pry-bar, and block and tackle for their 75th birthday! I got a come-along with steel cable but I got it in my 40's and it is great for these types of fun. I use it to pull tree stumps.

Just curious -- what do you anchor it to to pull a stump? |

I anchored it to the nearest strong object I could - usually a tree, but I've used a swimming pool ladder and also the diving board, and I've used vehicles and I used a big metal stake for a small stump.

Here is a great Tree Stump Removal Video on Youtube that I can relate to, from my own efforts moving that big boulder:

Wow - very nice looking project. Did you treat the boulders with Muriatic Acid to clean and reveal the rock variations?

No treatments. The weathered lighter top color was above ground, The darker part was buried. It was probably sitting there for a thousand+ years.
