Selection time. Pleased with them so far. Some plants hit the compost at this point, the best left to continue. More consistent but still lots of difference in flavour, plant performance and overall health it’s been rough weather- wise this spring from cold through June to blistering heat but despite it all, the little troopers are doing remarkably well.
I will post individual photos of selections to advance on my @NorthernGardenerCanada Facebook page and Instagram if interested. I hope everyone is healthy and happy and having a good season wherever you grow. KarenO |

Sweet Baby Jade. Stable and seeds are available now.
A gwr large cherry with sweet and tangy complex flavour on bushy 2.5-3’ tall potato leaf dwarfs. A collaboration stabilized from one of my dwarf crosses with Teresa Smith of Terranova Farm. About 65 DTM The first release from my “short and sweet” Dwarf breeding project. This one the result of 7 generations of selection out of a cross I did with a commercial microdwarf and a full size indeterminate beefsteak. I believe it to be stable as it has been consistent through several growouts now. Seed is F8. It is listed on the SSE along with my other varieties and Zena’s gift. Or Friends can message me or Teresa ( Americangrams) here or me on NG or here but seeds are very limited and have sold quickly. KarenO |

Third photo is seedlings in gallon pots to give an idea of the plant structure. These were young seedlings. Not yet blooming as you can see. They branch out and get quite bushy as they mature making them very productive.

Short and Sweet
Here is another Short and Sweet selection. A regular leaf small dwarf (about 14”) with a lovely open upward branching habit. Produces black cherries with vibrant green shoulders. Tastes great and super productive. Now saving F5 seeds, working name “Witch Hazel” for the combination of brown and green fruit colors.
