Over 20 years ago I learned of a Canadian selection out of Bonny Best (or possibly John Baer), sent away for seeds from SSE and grew something highly variable. Possibly inadvertent cross. Unimpressed, I did not save seeds.

Like we all do, I ran across a newsletter article a couple of years back that related the sad passing of Andy Pollock, who had selected it to survive cold nights and still deliver a reasonable crop.

My old seeds would not germinate, but an online contact came through.

Today, at about 65 days in dirt:

Next row over are 4 Bon Best (fresh seed from Annie's Heirloom Seed, and old, saved seeds...seems the same)

2-4 days behind, and as a guess, 15% lower yield.

So pleased with results.
