GGWT is more vigorous than PBTD. A little taller, but outlasts PBTD in my single very long season. From August until early June last year. This year was the rain and hot weather year from h--l, so nothing did as well.
Both will likely be on my grow list for September.

That makes perfect sense. I have two shorter growing seasons so thats one of the main reasons I prefer the earliness of PBTD... :-) Both are really good.

My plant has a couple of little fruits that look like potential large ones

This grew rapidly after I sowed it only after April 15 - (see my post #110)
Very curious now about the taste! With Green Zebra background and black flavor components, yummmm...!

Also, how would you compare it to Pink berkly Tie Die, in terms of taste, just to get an idea (they look somewhat similar, PBTD being a bit darker coloured it seems).
Hi, these are originally from my garden. It was a mutation from a commercial packet of green zebra from renees seeds. I loved it so i saved seeds and started growing them year after year. I decided to share them because i didnt want to have some kind of gardening disaster wipe this variety out.

I cant be l ieve how popular they are. Its my fave, but maybe because its my baby haha

Oh yah and this year is the first year im growing btd at the same time to compare.

Btd ripened maybe a week earlier, but probably because they are smaller. The flavor is more tart but less complex. Not bad, but not my preference. Fruit set is similar, but it seems ggwt is edging btd out on productivity. The fruit on btd is more uniform, less ruffling.

Ggwt wins for me. But im extremely partial to this one

Hey Jess, are growing BTD, or PinkBTD? GGWT looks very similar to PBTD. Not so much to the much more green BTD.

I have grown both too, and for me PBTD was more productive. It could just be a fluke. i would need to grow both for a few years for a fair comparison. I didn't find them tart either, but I eat currants raw, so maybe? No preference from taste just yet. I need to ripen up a few GGWT to try before I decide my favorite.

Sorry, it is pbtd, im always too lazy to put the p in my notes for some reason! Yah theyre very similar in appearance.
And drew, yah this is just from my firstnyear. I only have 2 pbtd vs 10 ggwt amd theyre on opposite ends of the garden so there may be soil differences accounting for some of the difference im productivity, wjo knows

I'm so excited, my GGWT are starting to take off. However, last week we had a pretty intense storm with high winds and I forgot to tie up one stem, which sadly broke and it had several fruit on it. Broke my heart to remove it. But, there are plenty coming along.

I have a couple of fruits (one was destroyed by BER), stripes clearly visible, and the plant is healthy looking. One (small) branch was broken off here too, and I re-planted it in a small container... It's catching up.
I love growing small branches in containers, just for one or two fruits that otherwise would go to waste.

It's a nice ornamental gift to give as well (in a prettier container than yoghurt jar...)

I know I should have done that, but at that point I was too lazy so it went into the garbage. Mine have visible stripes also.

I grew GGWT last year for the first time (thank you Marsha for the seeds). It was a bit late to start but so delicious. I have picked about 16 pounds of fruits from a single plant.
This year I am growing it again.

Jess, thank you for saving and sharing this beauty. Excellent taste consistently, no matter the weather.

P.S.
I first read about GGWT and history how it was named after a dog on one of the websites maybe 4 years ago. A forum I was not a part of. I hoped some day the seeds would become available to purchase. It was like a dream come true when Marsha had it in her seeds offer. I was so happy. I grew it for the first time last year and growing it again this year and will grow it next year. Thank you, Ladies.

This one is 12.5 ounces. Ready to be eaten. Probably tonight.

Ella, that is breathtakingly stunningly gorgeous. Gee I did all that? Jess, you truly gave the world a present, we will all be very grateful. This is my 3 rd year in a row growing it.

See, unlike many people that got turned off by the name, I felt that it was so funny. Well maybe because I read the story about it at the same time as I read about its taste and saw picture of this gorgeous fruit.

Thank you, Marsha, for all that you do. Anyone that creates or has by a chance great variety would definitely want to share it with other tomato lovers. They will send seeds to people that they know have a way of distributing. if I had one like that, I would want my baby to find many homes.
Jess, you must be happy to know how much we love your GGWT.
