Would done it this weekend but now I will do it as soon as I am able. The biggest ones are past due for sure. I planted more stuff today. Basil, dill, cilantro, lots of flowers and a few maters I missed.

I'm doing early indoor seedlings for the first time. I built a little grow light system in my bathtub using CFLs. I pulled out two of my Henderson's Pink Ponderosa plants for a comparison photo. One looks good. The other looks unhappy.
I am trying to determine if it is the proximity to the light that caused the difference or something else. |

rjake, your seedlings look great. For SC, I think you are right on target. In Atl, GA my plant out date was late Mar-early Apr.
Good luck ! Gardeneer |

Thanks Gardeneer.
We have temps in the low 80s next week. I hope to have some guys completely hardened off and ready for some outside time by then. I'll probably do a few weeks in gallon containers before plant out. I like the idea of having a serious root ball established before I set them in my garden. Here is another pic of my troops preparing for the harsh environs of the lowcountry. My NWS forecast for today was 47 and partly sunny. It's 36 at 4:30, and there has been no sun. The current temp is two degrees below the forecast low for tonight.
The NWS computer forecast and I have a complicated relationship. I guess you could say I have trust issues. |

With no more freezing temps in the immediate forecast, I now have 20 flats moved into the greenhouse: http://i.imgur.com/bOu1Pdg.jpg
I also have a lot of transplanting to do. The number of flats will double in a couple of days. Last year, I quit counting when I got past 100 48-cell flats. That was really more than I could take care of efficiently, anyway, without an automated watering system. |

Worth I think you are a wonderful man, Robert, but alas, I must agree with Worth. Your seedlings look a tiny bit leggier and thinner stemmed than they should, and natural light will correct that fairly quickly. Hope we are still friends, I mean that helpfully. __________________ Marsha “The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it.” ― Neil deGrasse Tyson I just read this. Thank you Marsha They have grown inches taller under those lights in the past 4 days. I have been delaying planting them out. Both of you are right though. |

Is Grand Marconi the same as Giant Marconi? I have never heard it called Grand.
