Carolyn do you or anyone else here know how to pronounce Mikhalych? I know I will get ask by several customers and I don't want to be saying it wrong.
In my head I'm sounding it our like Me-kay-lick but no idea how it is actually pronounced in Russian. |

Darin had sent his POSSIBLY,his words, heart seeds to me and I think Marsha as well but since I was in the hospital at the time I didn' t get back to Darin right away. I don't want to go back to that nasty thread where folks were discussing whether Darin had the right to rename it, but to be FAIR to each side my seed producer who did the seed production included, I and a few others will be listing it as Omar's Lebanese Heart, aka Dotson's Lebanese Heart. There are many varieties that have aka's and I noted them in that thread and in this situation I think it's best to list both to be FAIR. http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Omar%27s_Lebanese Carolyn, who will not answer any questions about Lebanese Heart in this thread since to be honest, she has had it .

http://www.tomatoville.com/showthrea...ffice+spoonful Tatiana says a variety called Spoon was grown in Germany in 2007. She also says the seeds came from Tomatofest. The Tomatofest seeds https://store.tomatofest.com/SearchR...x=0&Search.y=0 originated in Peru. Post Office Spoonful originated in Italy. It is not the one called Spoon by Tatiana nor is it the one called Spoon by Timeless tomatoes, which originated in South America. I told you this in the above thread. Post Office Spoonful is being grown out in 2017 and will have new seed available after harvest. Nan |

Seems like anyone who knows Russian here at TV, and there are many, could help, but Tania spelled it as Mikhail. Carolyn

If you look at your Tomatofest link you'll see that Gary clearly said that the word spoon first appeared in the Park Seed catalog. And yes,it sure would have come from Ecuador or Peru since it's the species Solanum pimpinellifolium https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanum_pimpinellifolium And it was spread not just to the Galapagos islands but also along the gulf coast of the US as Spanish missionaries left Mexico and went east. When the Spanish left Mexico they took it back to many places on their trading routes as well as back to Portugal and Spain initially. http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Spoon I don't see where Tania said anything about it being grown in Germany in 2007, but why not since it's been available commercially for many many decades. I'll be 78 in June and I grew it myself many years ago, probably from seeds I requested in the SSE Yearbook.Just noting that my fave currant one is Sara's Galapagos, but not a pure pimp. History of the tomato, I think an interesting story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato Carolyn

Nan, once you have seeds enough to share I would be interested in trying your post office spoonful tomatoes. Maybe a way to get folks growing them and saving seeds would be to share some little packs as bonuses in a couple of the bigger seeds swaps. Or in a Sase offer like Marsha and others have done.

http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost....66&postcount=7 I don't want any further confusion on this point. Folks who have been receiving either the seed that I've provided or that grown by Dutch are fully aware of the heritage of this tomato- it is also spelled out on Tatiana's Tomatobase. To have it be called OLH, aka DLH, is not my wish- once again. Thanks Darin |

Karen, I am sharing the seeds I currently have of POS. They are from 2008, however. If you'd like some, PM me. Otherwise, there'll be fresh ones at harvest time.

As I understand it, both Marsha and Darin have had seed offers open for some time distributing it under the the preferred Dotson name, so I can't imagine why anyone in future listings in SSE would muddy the waters now, by using an old working name for test growouts, under which no seeds actually distributed to the public.

Nan[/QUOTE I can wait for your harvest time unless you want or need help in saving seeds to offer for others to grow in which case I would be happy to grow a plant to assist you. I have germinated tomato seeds more than ten years old so best wishes on your project, I hope they grow well for you. KarenO |

BigVanVader,
Mikhalych or in Russian "Михалыч" is the middle name that is child's fathers name. Example: If Mark's father name is Mikhail, than he/Mark would be called Mark Mikhalych. try this link and click on a blue triangular shape before the word "Михалыч" to hear it pronunciation. https://forvo.com/search/Михалыч/
