Watch The Wire.
Best drama on television, ever. Take your mind right off it.

From our local channels up here we're getting 45% of Irma coverage, 45% on the quadruple homicide in the next town over, and the remaining 10% is being split between sports and a smattering of other stories. Not a good news day.
Here's hoping Irma is kind to all in Florida! |

Even though ABC news just said the hurricane is starting to move northwest - it still looks like it's moving right to left...west. The say there are already 10,000 without power in Florida.

I'm back with more good news. I think.
Pray the Euro is right, although it's been a little off track the wind speeds have been mostly correct. Here's the latest model runs and a wind shear map. The Euro still says it's gonna be a Cat 2 or 3 at landfall and the windshear map clearly shows that it's unfavorable for intensification. It does have a little window to get stronger but you can see it's not much room to get stronger before hitting the shear. Look at the color legend/words at the bottom right and you'll see what I'm talking about. It should turn north soon but maybe that wind shear will hold it for a while. The shear could be what's slowing it down too. Time will tell and this storm has certainly been an interesting storm to watch go from the strongest in history to a Cat 3. And to think, little old Cuba slowed it down. It's another "Ray of Hope" to weaken!!!! Here's the links and pics. https://weather.us/cyclone-tracks/eu...-240-irma.html http://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-tim...&prod=shr&zoom |

From the radar the eye has finally pulled off Cuba and moved NW.

At 2am eastern time - it looks like it is moving north-northwest, but it is still moving slow. It's much closer to Cuba than Florida right now.

Cat 4 now but the shear and land mass ahead project it to weaken. The water it is over right now is 30C so it has strengthened. Hit Cuba's east as a cat 5, first 5 in 100 years. Currently moving 6mph, hitting Key West at around 7:30ish.
As you all can tell by my posting we never even lost power. Good stuff, lol. https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/ir...or-storm-surge |

It should weaken as soon as it hits the Florida Alps.
