I would have thought something new too if it weren't for the fact that I went back and read the first page here where Mike said there were seeds in the cache from the 90's as well and there's no way to know when this yellow cherry dates from.

If I get a chance I'll try to read thru some Yearbooks and see if there are any yellow cherries with wee nipples.

Mike, I was really just answering someone who mentioned Yellow Riesentraube and I think you''ll see that I said it was a very recent introduction so I didn't think it would be possible myself. And what I also didn't mention is that I've seen no seeds for it outside of the SSE Yearbooks.

Carolyn, yes, I reread your posts after posting mine, and realized that you had mentioned that YR was a) relatively recent, and b) identical to (regular) Riesen. in other ways (ie, multiflora) - both of which would seem to indicate that this is NOT YR, as you concluded and I was just getting to As for "newness," we likely will never really know.

In any case, here's hoping that Wild can get us a picture or 3 when the next batch ripen. That will probably help to clarify - or not. Wild says they are like Sungold in color - which to me means "gold" (or to me, Sungold is actually closer to orange than yellow,) rather than yellow. So we'll see!

I can't wait to see a picture too. After all this I want to grow some and even if it isn't the best tomato I have ever have I bet I will still grow it and keep seeds forever, lol. my first time with this type of fun growing tomatoes! I have had the best time keeping up with this, just love a mystery I guess.
Hope we get to see those pictures soon! No pressure

Yes I too agree with the 'no pressure' sentiment.

Really what 's the hurry? We've waited this long, what's another 15 minutes?

This thread [reading it] has been like waiting for some deity to arrive. Send me a few seeds and I'll pass judgement on it. :-)

BTW, would someone work on a [great tasting] red cherry that doesn't split if you spit at it? Please.

Earl, I have Matt's Wild Cherry this year showing no splitting at all. Here's a pic:

Fruits are quite small -- maybe 4 - 5 grams -- but tasty, juicy, sweet/tangy.

Wow, I haven't been on for a while but I am amazed there was no reply to this. Maybe I missed the post where there was a reply to this somewhere else?

Hello Self.

Don't think you missed anything that the rest
of us have or haven't. Sorry to say that WILD
seems to have taken his LIFE elsewhere.

Now maybe only Aunt Hazel knows for sure.
