So, it's not the prettiest, but is an inexpensive and effective setup. At the Farmers Market today I figured even at $30 apiece for the fixture plus T8 bulbs, it is still far less expensive then what I would have spent on the 90+ plants I have started from seed. I think the blue tarp on my bedroom floor really completes the look, don't you?





Next year I will have all of my seeds ahead of time (!) & start all of them in March. I also want to start the peppers in Feb. As it is I have some tall ones (12" after plant down when potted up the other day) and some baby ones. 2 weeks to plant out, so the little ones have some more time under the lights.

I can't figure out pattern for this one.. Is it semi-determinate or what? It's unstable cherry line.. producing flowers everywhere.. stem, leaf, whatever..

The sterilite bins are the 28quarts. Cannot recommend these enough, when you fill up a bin (20 cups in each), there is absolutely ZERO tipping-over.

My 18oz red cups are the kirkland brand ones from costco.
My restaurant-wire shelving is purchased from costco and each shelf is 16-inch deep by 48 in wide. Two of these bins side by side are perfect on each shelf that has two sets of double-bulb fixtures on each.

Yes you can get tubs that are wider than these 28 quarts, but then light cast is not optimal for the ones on the farthest edges imo.

I use a strong mix of neem oil and dish detergent to spray wasps--and a fly swatter. The neem slows them way down, and then I whack them. Works really well on saw fly larvae too--don't have to swat them--they just writhe and die.

Keep the pictures coming. I can't have enough of them.
I have mine in the dirt already but they don't seem to be doing well. Maybe because I didn't harden them before putting them in the soil. They were on a window sill facing south and had plenty of time to get acclimated to the sun but not the cold night temperatures. I am hoping that they will thrive very soon.
On a completely different subject: my Bradywine tomato plants are all wilted once I planted them in the soil or put them in large pots. Is this of Brandywine tomato plants?

I was going to plant out, but then looked like there were going to be some more cold days. Must check the weather again....

I have not had any problem with Brandywine's wilting. But, if they were hardened they might, and also perhaps the soil wasn't warm enough yet here.
