her sisters are coming for a visit soon...

i gotta make room!

the haul today:

from noon clockwise:
big beef, big white, canadian heart, anna banana russian, stump of the world, tessie's treat, and coastal pride orange in the middle.

canadian hearts are a good size

but stump is the biggest tomato i've grown so far:

here's today's haul of stump of the world...yes folks...that's one pound, 14 ounces

and a few pickling cucumbers to round things out

big beef is totally prolific!

and now my big announcement:
i've finally got a grubs!

she only just blushed today.
when will she be *perfect* for eating???

lee...i really like this one.
this was my favourite last year. this year, however, with the better weather that i'm having and the extra experience in tomato growing...anna has moved down into 5th slot behind
1) guernsey pink blush cherries
2) what was supposed to be earl's faux but turned out to be a red tomato with RL foliage...now called 'tessie's treat' for my own selfish purposes.
3) big beef.
4) honey.

still...anna's a winner...7.5/10

I'm curious too.

I also like pink cherries. I have Amish Salad and it's one of my favs. I have Dr Carolyn's Pink coming for this year. Any idea how the 3 compare ??

An impressive haul tessa,

i`m curious about your "big white" tomato,i see yours is more yellow than white.I have "great white" growing in both my tunnel/hot house and two of its cuttings outside,the outside ones show a lot more colour but with no difference in taste.

i like the guernsey pink blush because they are very prolific, they are sweet but not SUPER-sweet (tho they are getting sweeter as the season wears on, i notice) and they don't have a lot of seed and gel. i'm not a big fan of the mouth explosion. it's still there...but not as pronounced as with other cherry varieties.

it's on my top 10 list too. in 6th place at the moment.
still haven't tasted the GMG tho...so all placings could change after lunch today, or tomorrow.

this is the oxheart that died a while back, it still ripened a few fruit, they were dry and mushy and without seeds, but somehow tasted fantastic anyway.

great.
now i've got to revise my ordering.

right off...i'm putting GMG into the top 4.
will need a side-by-side comparison to slot it into it's rightful spot. unfortunately...the only ripe GMG has gone down the hatch.
worse things could have happened.

today's pick:

there canadian hearts (i squeezed one for the seeds before i remembered to take the picture), one big beef, and another anna banana russian, which are really starting to size up for me now

that's 8 and 3/4 ounces.
