I envy you all, so busy with all the seedlings and planting arrangements.

Don't people from New Jersey migrate to Florida after a period of time.

Worth, one day I hope we will. Not all NJ-sians do. Just some.

I think it is a general perception that a fair number of retires come to FL from NY and NJ. Hard to believe but there is a number of migrants to FL, in my gym, from Iowa (including myself). What States are considered to contribute most to Texas's growth?

That's a hard question and depends on what they come here for.
We have the largest population of folks coming from Mexico 2nd only to California.
Then we have a huge amount of people from California moving to Texas.

I looked at some houses in Texas. Corpus Christi on the trulia website has beautiful houses and the price is great too. But we know nothing about Texas. We traveled to Florida once/twice a year on average. It fills like home.

Don't even think of moving to Corpus Christi.
It is over ran with refineries and Chemical plants.
In Texas you can get just about anything you want as far as climate and landscape.
One also must "regretfully" consider their personal views if they want to get out and meet people as to where they want to live.

Thank you, Marsha. I want to be Floridian and grow mangoes. I already got my dehydrator. Got nothing to loose. Just have to give it few years.

Worth, thanks for warning. We have these refineries and Chemical plants here in NJ.

Not to scare you off there are great places here I just have to say I am ashamed of some of the people.

I met some kids from the Czech Republic the other night two girls and two boys in their 20's.
You should have seen the smiles on their faces and the big happy wave when I hollered guten abend as I took off on my motorcycle.

Ella,
I agree with Marsha. We need another good gardener in Florida to post great comments, like many do on this thread. Oh, and I'm including you too Worth. Then I can learn more and maybe get out of the amateur stage.

Small world ha. Just this Sunday we noticed couple crossing road with suitcases here in Bayonne, NJ. Looked as they were planning to board one of the cruise ships. The only problem was that they were too far from where it was. Public transportation does not take you close enough. If you can see on the map where Ave E (near root 440) is and they would have to walk to the place right next to the Memorial, called Tear Drop. We offered them a ride, they were happy. It turned out they were from Germany. Their English was very dissent. Nice couple.

Larry, I am learning from you about broccoli. I am going to grow few tomatoes next year in containers, Florida stile. Hehe... Getting ready.

P.S. I already told my DH that I am taking this containers to Florida when we move. They have NJ soil in it and made of aluminum, will last for a long time.

Good idea. The soil here in Orlando is mostly sand and it is a challenge to grow most things in it, but thankfully there are a few exceptions, such as Kale, Cowpeas, Sweet Potatoes, etc.
