I also grew a Green Bee this year, and it grew great. Splitting was a problem for me too, but the ones we got were good. I probably watered too much. My daughter really liked them and I will be planting them again. Thank you again for the seeds.

Fred, how long have you successfully kept Greenbee? Refrigerated or whatever.

Last year we had some last about 3 months, with no refrigeration. At the end they had lost some flavor, but were still on the menu at a local restaurant.
The tomatoes shown in this article were picked in October and photographed in January. In other people's hands, they have lasted 5 months, when stored cool (root cellar). Of course, with long storage, there is always an occasional fruit that goes bad (because it is nicked or slightly split and it goes bad). We were going to look at storage more carefully this winter, but once "regular" tomato season ended, there was a run on Green Bee, and our supply was all sold. So we don't really know how long Green Bee can be kept under "soft" refrigeration (50 degrees F). |

That is exciting Fred. So many long keeping tomatoes bloom/explode with flavor
in contact with heat. Great article how sturdy they are. Definitely on the list again next year. |

Picked about 6 weeks ago. Stored single layer on a shelf in our garage. Not sure of temp, likely mostly in the lie 50’s. They still seem to taste the same to me. Still firm.

Due to the prediction of freezing temperatures, I had to move the ripened tomatoes from a shed in the garden back home to a flat on Friday. On the first picture are Ramallets from Mallorca and Green Bee F1, on the second are the other tomatoes.

December 15, I’ve had two flats of green, green bees in my garage since October.
They are in suspended animation it seems, not ripening further, not spoiling. I’ve been taking them in a few at a time where they ripen to this bit of blush when I find they are sweetest. Enjoying garden tomatoes still in mid December is just crazy to me. They are unlike any I’ve grown, if you are looking for a regular tomato these are not it but if you like something new and different I recommend to try them. Seeds from Fred at Artisan Seeds. KarenO,
It sounds like you are saying that you are noticing room-temperature ripening, after extended cool storage. Is that what you are saying? Still so much to figure out here. Based on what we are seeing here, it looks like hard refrigeration is detrimental to both shelf-life and flavor...
