Rain turned to sleet yesterday and freezing rain - everything ice coated this morning and treacherous, but back up to 7 C by afternoon, although you wouldn't say so because the wind was gusty and certainly not a warm one. Now we're into the temperature drop loop, going deeper tomorrow and down to -14 C tomorrow night. The only snow on the ground is where trees sheltered or shaded and kept it cool in the farthest corner of the garden. Sooo.. a lot of things are being tested for the next couple of days. And then we go above zero again Thursday.
Weatherman tonight compared February last year, which was very mild but not even close to this one. We have had 10 of 12 days with a high above zero so far this February. There's a big high pressure zone fairly stationary over the Atlantic, and it's pushed the storm track further north and west, leaving us on the warm side. As the man said, now that would be a nice pattern for the summer. |

Woke up to -30, but at least it's not snowing! And not much wind.

Just shoveled the bit of snow we got last night - not too deep but wet and heavy. There's been nothing on the ground for days past. Couple of cold days ahead but no major precip, and another thaw on Wednesday...
May be the least snowy February I've ever seen! |

Temperature 51F/11C wind out of the northeast at 6MPH humidity at 81% overcast grey skies.
Sausage gravy, eggs and biscuit weather. Glad I went fishing Thursday. Then I looked at the temps for the rest of the week and almost had a heart attack. It said it was going to be in the low teens even down into the single digits and 20's for the rest of the week. Then I realized I forgot to put the reading back on the Fahrenheit scale. What a relief that was. Worth |

Too funny Worth.
Sounds like primo weather to me. We have a thing here in Celsius, where everything changes when we hit "double digits". Yep, the double digits are a cause for contentment if not an outright celebration. That is anything over 50 F. |

'everything changes when we hit "double digits" '
Here it is if the sun shines no matter the temperature, it seems. A young lady with a low cut sweater, no coat, complained to me as she walked by about how cold it was. No kidding! I was wearing my down parka but I'm older and obviously wiser. |
