Marsha, that is wonderful that you had so little impact. It is not suppose to be here until this afternoon so this waiting is stressful. We have had so much rain that my pool is almost running over even though I drained a lot of water out yesterday. Our local news stations are really only talking about our area so I would not what was going on for the rest of you if we did not have this group. I sure hope Barb is ok.

It's funny that you said that Ella. Barb just called me. They never even lost power just a couple of flickers a few wind gusts up to around a hundred but nothing of any consequence. Except she lost her internet. So she's fine and she'll post as soon as she gets internet back.

Leading up to the storm we staked, tied, weaved and pruned tomato plants. That and less forceful winds than expected resulted in only modest damage to our tomato plants. The bush beans look a complete mess, but I can straighten them back up. I have 3 fence panels to repair and put back in place and a few limbs to cut up and dispose of. Of course I haven't looked at the roof yet. I am hoping all the shingles are in place and still stuck down. All in all about as good as I could have hoped for.
I am thankful that the eye of the storm appears to have not come ashore and probably resulting in much much less damage along the space coast than could have been the case. Here the winds are still gusting and primarily out of the East. In a few short hours the weather here should be more or less back to normal. With October we should see slightly cooler temperatures and more tomatoes setting. It’s a new day. Larry Last edited by Zone9b; October 7, 2016 at 10:21 AM. |

Very relieved to hear the good news so far!
I was looking at a map of storm surge this morning, and it is supposed to be much higher in Jacksonville than the first areas hit - as much as 11 ft deep. So please take care Kay, if you are near the coast and near sea level you could have some serious flooding. |

No damage
I lost nothing during the storm. All my plants remained out of doors without losing a leaf.

Marsha
I am going tomorrow morning to check but the initial reports from the park owner is that he did a preliminary check and the campers look ok and the water didnt come up. No report on our boat and golf cart but they were parked and secured so hopefully ok too. Whew! I know a lot of us are sighing a huge sigh of relief.
