Yesterday I went for another ride on the motorcycle to show you guys another favorite place of mine.
The road to get there is covered in potholes washboard and rocks the size of baseball's. I have never seen another motorcycle on this road. The bike will jump from side to side and if you fight it you will end up off the road or falling over. This has never happened to me but I get some crazy looks from people when they see me here. Yes one guy caught a perch. I want to go night fishing but they close the place after dark some time. This sucks but the reason the do it is to keep unsavory people from living there. We call them lake snakes and river rats. Some time back in the mid 80's a buddy and I stopped to jump in the lake after unloading cabinets to cool of. The place was inundated with transients and other forms of low life. This ended the free boat launch and continuous camping. Many years later I was working with a younger guy in Alaska and we were talking. At the same time I went to the lake he was there homeless with his sister mother at 10 years old. The kid literally drug himself out of the gutter took off and as a homeless teenager got an education. The last time I was at this river a transient was living there and his pit bull came barking and ran at me. I just stood my ground squatted down and the dog ran up and became my buddy. Worth |

Jim Carrey, who is now one of the richest actors in the world, was homeless for a while when he was younger. His family lived in a VW bus.

There is no documented case of anyone being bit to death in a nest of cotton mouth snakes in a lake while water skiing. The rattlesnake handlers at the rattlesnake round ups wire the jaws shut on the snakes. At the spot I was at you are not allowed to collect hurt or kill any plant or animal wildlife other than the fishing. |

I can think of so many fun places to put up that sign, like outside the state legislature buildings, several law firms, all over Washington DC and Wall Street.... |

We rode on a steam train that goes from Cedar Park to Burnet for their annual Bluebonnet Festival on Sunday, and I wanted to share this candid shot I took of my 82 year old Gram looking out the window because I love it. This is the woman who made me love plants and gardening.

The festival was boring as it always is, they focus so much on vendors and there is no focus on bluebonnets at all so the name makes no sense. The train ride was the highlight.
