I dont even have snack food in the house.
Not because I am some sort of health snob it is because if I have it I will eat it. If I lived across the street from a store I would get up right now and go get a pint of ice cream a coke a candy bar and a big bag of chips. Worth |

Worth, Cheese + anything is good food. One of my favs is sauté any kind of peppers in olive oil, then put over slice of sourdough bread and eat with a large chuck of sharp cheddar cheese.

Today I made my first stir fry. I've been craving vegetables lately. I bought zucchini, red bell pepper and snap peas. I didn't think of mushrooms.
I was almost out of oil so I used some coconut oil I have for dry skin. I've shied away from frying with it because I thought it'd make everything taste like coconut. But it didn't and for once I didn't burn what I was cooking. Delicious! The perfect crispness!

Thank you! I'm going to heat up the rest and dump it over a chicken breast. So THAT'S what the coconut oil thing is-it doesn't burn? It bubbled up and looked like boiling water but it didn't smoke. The vegetables are PERFECT, crisp but tender and savory.

The current healthy thinking is to cook with only those 3, and yes have EVOO, but only raw like on salads. Also, use butter rather than margarine, much healthier. |

Yes, coconut oil is great for things like stir frying. As you probably noticed, it has a really strong coconut smell when it's heating up, but it really doesn't give the food a coconut flavor. I use it for all my high heat sautéing and stir frying, and olive oil for everything else. Keep exploring and trying new dishes! |
