I am so glad to hear you guys are doing well in the storm. I hope your results are the norm for the majority of Floridians.

I don't think most are doing as well. I was watching MSNBC and they showed video of the keys with refrigerators blown into yards, some food still in them, and they just interviewed the mayor of Miami who said the local electric company is reporting 5 million without power. That is a crazy amount of people with no power. So glad you are faring so much better.

I haven't heard of any loss of life yet. Hopefully when all is said and done, it will very low. Everything else is stuff or inconvenience.

They actually seem to have amended it to 5 million customers, half without power. That is still 2.5 million just in the Miami area. The problem is the more there are, the longer it can take to bring them all back, and of coarse some may die because they rely on electricity to live, like those with oxygen generators. Hopefully they will find the right people who need to be brought back on the most and there will be no loss of life from it.

We lost power at 6:15, had to heat dinner on the burner on the side of the grill, then at 7pm, the power came back on. I figured it was out to stay. Very lucky. I think the winds are slowing a bit now too. This thing lasted all freaking day!

I agree. Most of my friends and family have been without power since wee hours of Sunday morning. I feel extremely fortunate. Underground wires helps.

So far I have only heard of 3 deaths and they were all automobile accidents. It has rained here all day from the noreater and most of my yard is standing in water. The pool is only 2 inches from overflowing. We are not suppose to start getting Irma related weather until around 2 am the last I heard. I hate bad weather events that happen at night. I like to be awake and able to see what is happening.

The power has not gone out but I know it will. The power lines are over head here and there are only 2 house on that feed so we are low priority for restoration. My neighbors on both sides have old trees right on the property line and I worry about them falling.

I have been watching through the day and feel relieved every time you post Marsha. I am sure in daylight there will be damage, severe in many areas from this awful storm. thinking of you from Vancouver Island and grateful to know that you are OK.
I guess you can take your seed collection out of your bra soon?

I am relieved.
I have been watching and reading this thread with concern.
I am happy that it was not as bad as previously forecast.
With hurricanes, most damage is done by flooding than high winds. If you are on higher ground, like Marsha is, you can do better.
