I was almost out of oil so I used some coconut oil I have for dry skin. I've shied away from frying with it because I thought it'd make everything taste like coconut. But it didn't and for once I didn't burn what I was cooking. Delicious! The perfect crispness!

I have found the best time to try something/s different is when I'm hungry for certain food groups. Maybe this is a good time to try a few vegies that you have always put off? I have never eaten an artichoke - the name says to me, "I ought to choke" It's going to suck if I find out that Artichokes are one of my favorites after 50 years of not trying them.

In a way, a lot of us are in the same boat. I can learn from you eating more healthy.

The current healthy thinking is to cook with only those 3, and yes have EVOO, but only raw like on salads. Also, use butter rather than margarine, much healthier.
I also use Grapeseed oil which Costco carries.

Great news! I also first bought coconut oil for dry itchy skin but now I use it for all kinds of high temp cooking, even taco shells!

Deborah, I have noticed (out of necessity to eliminate dyes) that the less junk food (sugar specifically) I eat the less I desire to have it. It is as if sugar is addictive... No! say it aint so?! things such as peppers and carrots that have high sugar for a vegetable just isn't the same kind of sugar. There aren't the munchy cravings for me like there was before I started eliminating the dyes out of my diet. And to be quite frank.. dyes are mostly in the junk food to give them a better appearance or addictive flavorings to want more and more... so eliminating the dye pretty much eliminated most junk food.

Yes, I believe you. And I've heard that diet Coke makes one crave sweets even though it's not sugar. I tried stevia on oatmeal-bleah! It has a weird aftertaste.

Blackstrap molasses is the only sugar I buy. It has a lot of flavor, and nutrients, too, believe it or not. Molasses is what is left over after sugar is stripped of all its nutrition in the process of making white sugar.

No good pecan pie is worth a hoot without it.

I sure like baked beans with a dribble of molasses over them. I'll bet molasses over vanilla ice cream would be good too.

Coconut oil is awesome, really helps with dry skin for dogs as well as people. Made a big difference for me here in the desert. We also put a teaspoon in our dachshunds dinner eat night. Very noticeable difference in coat softness and shininess. We were able to take one dog off steroids to help keep her from licking.

Is any dog cuter than a doxie? I'm glad they're doing so well. My aunt always had doxies.
