I haven't seen the fruits, but she told me one is pink, round and about the other she doesn't remember how it is. She has the seeds from her mother, and her mother inherited these varieties from her mother-in-low. They are old seeds. I made a germination test, some are still sprouting. Will see this year how they are.

Tuncse and I named her Arad's Pink Heart together and it looks like, well maybe, we can do the same for the last two on the list if you want me to help, your choice. And I also see that you have someof the same ones that Valerian in Romania sent to me as well and those go out for seed production this summer/ I haven't finished copying down all the incoming seeds but I think you sent me enough to offer directly for Arad's Pink Heart, and if so, that's great. For the Romanian ones Valerian(Moshou in Tville) sent me the seeds. He is doing a great job, he has a blog about tomatoes in Romanian language, and promoting in this way the heirloom tomato varieties. Tünde |

Noah,
I see you have tons of tomatoes but none from Brag Gates at Wild Boar Farms or Double Helix! Then there are some unique varieties over at J and L Gardens and Diane's as well.... Al |

I'm keeping things very simple and back to basics this year.
I think I'll grow about 17 tomato plants, as follows: 6 Sweet Ozark Orange 3 Bread and Salt, Pink (Khlebosolnyi Rozovyi) 3 Break O Day 3 Sioux 2 Sungold F1 (my working-in-the-garden candy) |

Noah, that is one fine list! I really like that you added where you got them.
I don't know what "Fiogga" as a source is though. |

Ed, I haven't been able to find much about (Bread and Salt) Khlebosolnyi Rozovyi. Tatiana says it's a determinate regular leaf large pink beefsteak, but not much more. Others say it's an oxheart? I assume you've grown it before, since you're "back to basics". Could you tell us a little about it, like why you like it, and your approximate dtm?

http://www.rareseeds.com/bread-and-salt-tomato/ But it's not so simple, of course. Tatiana and some other on-line sites say the information about this variety is confused: "First introduced commercially in North America by Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds in 2010, under translated name Bread and Salt. Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds catalog picture does not match the pictures given by Russian seed vendors for Khlebosolnye. It should be a bright red oblate tomato, but what is sold in the North America is a heart-shaped tomato. There must be some seed mixup happened in the seed exchange transaction between Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and a Russian seed saver, or the variety was not entirely stable. I suspect the stability could have been an issue, as the Russian vendor ‘Sibirskiy Sad’ shortly released another variation of this tomato named Khlebosolnyi Rozovyi (pink)." I'm buying my seeds from Baker Creek so that's why I added Rozovyi (pink) to the name to clarify which tomato I'm growing. In their catalog it looks like a large heart variety to me. I don't know for sure about DTM, determinate vs. indeterminate, leaf type, etc., but I'm guessing it will prove to be a late-season, indeterminate, wispy regular-leaved, meaty, excellent-flavored Russian heart like all the others in that category that I've grown. If so, I'm bound to like it! |
