I ate my first OJ tonight. My mom was over so I gave her 4 tomatoes to try and OJ was her favorite. I didnt think it was as sweet as most orange tomatoes I have tried but it seems the early setting tomatoes here are less flavorful than the later ones. I'm holding judgment out till later.

Ok to update the last 2 OJ I ate were much better and had that fruity taste I look for. My mom said they made a delicious tomato pie and my sister loves them, as did everyone at our 4th of July get together. They continue to set fruit in our drought and upper 90s heat. This was about half off the OJ I took to market last week. They are out producing Big Beef so far. Folks who love tomatoes should do themselves a favor and go order some OJ seeds.

Thanks for the taste report BVV! So you mentioned fruity, what else do you get, sweet, tangy, acidic, balanced, intense, mild, etc?

Hmm, I'm bad at flavor description but I'd say it's well balanced but more on the sweet side with just a touch of zing. It definitely is sweeter when dead ripe and more of a mild tomato flavor before peak ripeness. I typically like dead ripe tomatoes best though. Hope that helps.

Just wanted to mention that we have upped our packet size for Orange Jazz to 100 seeds/$4.95 (no shipping) -- www.growartisan.com

Enough seeds to share!

Too update my plants are still the healthiest non-hybrid variety left. All my plants have grey mold but OJ is fighting its progression much better than any others besides Juliet and Big Beef. This is an excellent overall tomato. The only complaint I have is that they have (for me this year) a tendency to have a hard center core. Mostly this happens in the bigger ones but it makes so many huge tomatoes it ends up being a fair portion. That said the positives far outweigh the negatives and I plan to grow again, maybe against KBX.

Default Move over Aunt Gertie's Gold and Jaune Flammée

I just tasted my first Orange Jazz and it blew my previous yellow/orange favorites away.

This baby came in at 15.4 ounces of solid flesh, meaty with old time tomato flavor and a bit of zing! It made a perfect BLT for lunch. Judging by the fruit set on the plant it is going to be a decent producer too!

Thank you Fred!

You're welcome. Thanks for taking a chance on it in the land of humidity and disease!

A top producer in my garden of large tomatoes with very sweet and juicy taste. Texture reminded me of eating a peach. Plants (3) have hung in there and produced till season's end without any spraying or pruning.
Can't wait to try Jazz and and Red Jazz once it is released.

Because the deer keep sneaking into the yard when the dogs are not out, we had to pick our Orange Jazz before we wanted. They are absolutely gorgeous, and we still have 10-12 8 ouncers on the plant quite hidden. We have also picked 4 one Pounders and the taste is awesome. Definitely will repeat this one, as it has great production, flavor and looks even with a bad growing season! Temperatures in the hundreds, and evenings dropping down to the 40[ATTACH]
