If what I am seeing on ground is relevant - I would think so locally. Texas is a huge state though. The drought was between 2007 and 2014. Things were getting ugly around here with a lot of restrictions before 2015. Here's a site https://waterdatafortexas.org/groundwater

I saw pics of snow and flooding in Texas on the news last night. We're snowed in here as well, big time. Looks like we'll be socked in for the winter...

I have no idea what it is doing in Texas.
To know that I would have to turn on the news.
I like many other people have stopped watching mainstream news.
I can say my area is horrible for the next few days.

It's cold outside, 41F BRRR.

It was 71 two days ago, 64 yesterday and today cloudy, high 49F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. I doubt we see 49, it's really cloudy.

I hope nobody loses power on the East coast with all the ice/snow mix.

Three and an eighth inches of rain in south Austin Friday-Saturday. Water tank is full. Fancy rootstock seeds have arrived from Hydro-gardens in Colorado. Cover crops of Crimson Clover and Elbon Rye are five inches tall. The 6-horsepower Troy-Bilt rototiller needs a tuneup. Still trapping raccoons and possums--an eight pounder this morning. Wishing everyone happy holidays and be safe from winter storms.

we are getting it now.
snow started over night with several inches of wet snow on the ground by noon.
i got busy with the plow truck, and tractor with blower, and cleared some ground.
i finished the driveway just in time when the snow turned to rain.
its back to snow again, and we could get anywhere from 3 to 7 inches overnight.
i don't like wet heavy snow. too hard on equipment.
temps keep flipping above and below freezing which explains the rain.
winds are supposed to kick up some.
i will have the morning off tomorrow to clean up whatever mess is waiting for me.

Many here are still recovering from a wind storm that ripped through our coast one week ago. Thousands are still without power but it is hoped that all will be hooked up by new year.

I happened to be looking out the window when a huge gust took five large fir tree branches off one tree from the side overhanging where I grow things down below. They were too high for me to reach and prune. Glad to see the branches go and that they went over the fence to land in the yard where the tree is growing.
No loss of power for me in town and no problem cooking for Christmas day. We haven't had such a harsh wind storm in about 20 yrs.

Coastal, glad to hear you aren't among those who lost power and had damages! It must have been really bad, for the power to be still out since before xmas...

Love the 'helpful gale' story.

I have seen it once at least, but most of the time we're just thankful for no home damage.

We have it bone chilling cold here for a few days, will be -17 C tonight with colder windchill, and expecting Keith's leftovers tomorrow with about 15 cm snow and high winds into Saturday night.

It's been extra cold off and on since November this year, but great weather for getting around in the early part of the holidays, which is always number one wish for me.

Flooding here yesterday, usual idiots to be rescued from the water because they went around barricades.
When will people learn they aren't driving a 58 Buick 4 door
I drove one of these as a kid sometimes.

I haven't watched he news in days, so I don't know about flooding rescues, but it's way too wet here. Our place is on a hill, but most of the surrounding area is flat. The water is just standing there for what seems like months. A lot of the area is used for growing corn, grain, and hay, but there are rural (Country) homes where the water is sitting there. I'm sure that a lot of the older homes have the older type septic tanks and containment lines/fields. There's no way they can work right with water standing on them.
