My health has not gotten better. In fact it's a bit worse than before. Since I now have some insurance I am doctoring, tho without much results so far. I am able to do some stuff, but everything seems to take about 3 times the effort than it used to take and gets me more worn out than ever. I also have days when it feels like my head is stuck in a thick fog bank and I can't seem to comprehend things properly. That's almost worse than the tiredness.

I am taking my web site down for a while so I don't have orders to worry about. I will fill those orders I still have outstanding and give generous amounts so if I messed up your current planting plans you will have enough seeds for next season too.

Hopefully if I can get thru summer and fall, if I feel better, I'll put the web site back up around Thanksgiving time.

I do have a lady helper that has been keeping the greenhouse going for me and hopefully will be able to get the limited amount of varieties we are doing this year planted and to seed.

Thanks for your understanding,
Carol

Dear Carol,

I am so sorry you have been going through a difficult time. You are in my thoughts, and I am really hoping the things will turn to better for you soon. Being sick is very frustrating and not much fun (that's an understatement). Take a very good care of yourself, drink lots of freshly squeezed juice from your bountiful veggies and greenies + ginger and lemon, and get well soon! The fresh green juice is so helpful, I think it is what is keeping me moving.

Hugs,
Tatiana

You take care of yourself, Carol. We will wait until things are back in full swing; already have next year's order in mind.

Carol, I hope your meds kick in soon and you are able to see some improvement before too long. I really feel for you, must be especially frustrating since it's summer, which has been such a busy time for you. Your health is more important than anything, so take it slow for however long you need. Glad to know you have some good help for the greenhouse.

Thanks gang,

I'll try to keep you informed when I find out myself. So far I think I know what the issue is but finding a Dr that agrees or has a better reason is the challenge right now.

More later.

Hi Carol,
Good luck finding the right doctor. I think too many of them are still just practicing at getting it right.
Take care of yourself, try to keep your spirits up and think positive.

I have an orphan disease. I literally found the person who wrote the book on what I believed I had. I got an appointment with them after going to several Dr's and being told "It is all in your head." I went to that Dr and got confirmation it was indead that disease and it was in my head but it was the basal ganglia instead of psychological. The right meds got me back on track neurologically anyway. Keep the faith!

What I believe I have is another 1 of the things that gets "blown off" by Drs A LOT, especially if you are a woman. I went to a Dr over 15 years ago complaining of milder symptoms of pretty much the same thing. I was given a test that most Drs use but has been proven faulty and told "everything's fine". This is also 1 of those "you don't look sick" things. Hard for people to understand at times.

Now it's a lot worse. I've been doing a lot of reading and have joined several groups of patients that help each other and help you find a decent Dr. I only have gone thru 2, or 3 if you count that 1 from 15 years ago. Some have been sick for 20, 30 or more years and gone thru 10+ Drs.

Basically it's a Thyroid issue. Most likely Hashimoto's which is an Auto-Immune disease that eventually destroys the Thyroid. I also have Fibromyalgia, another AI. Often if you have 1 AI, you will get another. Many are now seeing that Fibro and Thyroid issues are connected. Fix 1 and often the other will also get better.

I went in with a 3 page print out of symptoms with more than 1/2 marked as what I have and the "Thyroid Specialist" looked at them and said "I think you just have some depression". Well yes I have depression, because Hypothyroid WILL cause depression because your whole body is SSLLOOWWWWW !!!

He didn't try to push antidepressants tho after he examined me and found a big lump on my throat. Heck, I've know about that lump for years, just didn't know what it was. Ordered an Ultrasound that confirmed the lump at 2.5 cm and also found nodules and cysts and the Thyroid "mildly enlarged". I couldn't get any number on how many but it's plural in both cases. A biopsy on the big lump was done last week and tho they were able to get few cells, those they got were OK.

When the nurse called to tell me, she said the Dr just wanted a 6 month follow-up. Never mentioned Hashi's or offered any meds I asked when he was going to bother to tell me I had Hashi's (basically nodules and cysts on the Thyroid can ONLY mean Hashi's and/or cancer). She started to repeat the info about the biopsy as if that was what I asked. She was TOTALLY unfamiliar with the term "Hashimoto's". I told her I would be finding another Dr that this 1 doesn't know sh!t and hung up on her.

I'm sorry SHE got my wrath and not that Dr. but I'm not going to put up with being kept sick and tired any more. With Hashi's you can also go from Hypo to Hyper at times as the disease is destroying a part of the Thyroid and dumping thyroid hormone into your system. Hashi's will often be mistaken for Bi-Polar because of the swings between manic to depressive.

That explains how I was able to process over 10 lbs of seeds and close to 10 acres of tomatoes about 5 years ago. I was in a Hyper phase then and since then have crashed and keep getting slower and slower. It takes longer and longer between days I'm able to do more work too. But what really bothers me is the fact that I feel like I "lost" the last 3 years of my life and wasn't able to give my Mom the care and attention SHE needed those last years. I will never be able to get that back even if I do get my health back.

Because the Thyroid is important for virtually EVERYTHING your body does, when it's out of whack, other things get out of whack too. So I have several other things to take care of too but all related. Many people that don't get a good Dr end up on all kinds of prescriptions for things like Statins, anti-depressants, anti-acid stuff, and often eventually high blood pressure meds, heart meds and diabetes. Yes it's all connected. Oh and for women, messed up cycles and low or non-existent libido is connected to Thyroid too. All you really need is decent care for your Thyroid which can be just Natural Dessicated Thyroid (Armour or Acella or Erfa). Well, you do need to take care of some other issues like possible low iron and cortisol issues too. And often you need to change your diet completely because our poor processed and fake food diets are part of the cause. But Big Pharma doesn't make money that way.

Sorry this turned into a "book" and a bit of a rant. Sometimes you just need to get it all out to be able to feel a bit better. BTW, it was thanks to a member here PMing me last winter that I got started in the right direction to figuring it all out Thank you so much.

My heart goes out to you in your frustration at finding a competent doctor familiar with the disease. I am sure you have googled everything possible but did you find any doctor's listed close enough to help you? There do seem to be a number around the country but then you would have to travel. I found this site and maybe they know a doctor in Wisconsin. I hope you find one soon! The best to you and please keep us informed as to how it is going. If you are lucky enough to find the right practitioner you may also be helping someone else in the same situation. Here is the link. http://www.holtorfmed.com/hashimotos-disease/

I've been getting some inquiries about if/when I will be getting my site back on line, so I just wanted to post a bit of an update.

It's been a long and not so good year for me. I've gone thru 3 Drs locally that don't understand Thyroid issues at all even tho they should. The few "recommended good" Drs within 2 hours of me don't take insurance and I can't afford hundreds - thousands of $ for their services.

I've been sort of "holding it together" because of the 5 books I've been reading on Thyroid issues and several good health groups on Facebook.

Bluntly, I've been slipping deeper and deeper into a depression that has had me almost "frozen" in that I've had a really hard time doing stuff I KNOW needs to be done. But it's a Thyroid depression that doesn't really respond to the types of anti-depressants Dr Rx for mental health issues.

I have less than 3 weeks ago finally started on some actual Thyroid NDT medicine. But because it takes some time to build up in your system and time to find the right dosage, I'm not quite where I need to be yet. I also know that I have Iron and Cortisol issues that also need to be worked on. But in the last4-5 days I have noticed a significant improvement in my "outlook". I don't seem to be in suck a deep dark hole any more. A bit of "brightness" is finally returning.

So about the site -- I need to do a lot of germination tests on some new seeds and on a lot of older seeds to see what is good or not. We also have a vacation to the beach coming up the end of the month. So if I can keep improving and get the needed work done, MAYBE I'll be able to get the site back up around the second week in Feb +-. I may not keep the site up for more than a couple of months tho depending on if I can keep up or feel overwhelmed again.

I'm also working on a way that I can use some help doing the seed orders. Up til now, it's been just me in the computer room and there really isn't room there for anyone else.

I'll post more info when I get things together.

Thanks for understanding.
