Tha image would strike fear in the heart of any father! Lol. There's a big market out there now for tweens stuff. By the time Summer is 8 she'll probably need a credit card. At the moment, we can't wait to get her home.

Hey, so with all the rain you had are you going to reassess you reassessment about not growing as many tomatoes?

I figure I will have 15 in one side of the greenhouse, 5 in the bed that runs along the front of the greenhouse and 5 or 6 in driveway pots. That should be enough. Already got a list drawn up.
The other side of the greenhouse will have peppers, basil, spring onions etc. I will have plenty of water for them now with the new tank nearly full.

No flooding here. Mildura had a big dump that caused local flooding, and there were some big dumps in parts of SA. Our rain came down steady over a long period.

Mantis, a mobile phone is nothing to worry about. Soon she'll get her driver's license, THEN you can worry. If she still has the phone then, you can call her: "WHERE THE ____ ARE YOU???"

Our kids here can't get their licence until they are 18. Trouble with this is that its the same age they can legally drink alcohol. So, they get drunk and then drive with little experience behind the wheel. Lethal mix.

Yet to try one but Old Virginia is a prolific medium-sized red and l-a-t-e season, as in same as B.Sudduth or about one week earlier.

We all LOVE Earl's Faux and Mrs Grub picked the two ripe ones here and put them on her own plate for her breakfast. She's excited! In fact, I haven't seen her this excited about a tomato since she ate her last EF about, well let's see, 11 months ago

Oleyar's German gets pretty big. Taste test t/c. (I know, I know, not washed. It's mainly pyrethrum).

My Sneezy F2 RL4 (Golden Dwarf Champion x Green Giant) is churning out some nice green-when-ripes with a pinkish tinge. I'm going to let these get yet riper. Top taste.

Great pix of this one Grub! How tall is that plant now?

Hi Lee,

It's using some neighbours for support but I would say, if I wanted to stretch the limbs, 8ft.

Is that a dwarf?

It's on a tree type, but I should add that it's in a spot where everything, and I do mean everything, is rangey coz of the light situation.

I'll add another thing: good to very good bordering on excellent disease or EB and heat resistance.

Haven't busted into Old Virginia yet. As soon as I do, in the next day or so, I'll post tasting notes.

I just picked a Faux Box Car Willie, you know the one, the giant red. Very good to excellent tomatoey taste and always yields big fruits. First one weighs 596 grams or 21.285oz or 1.33lbs. Not bad.

Yes, I have quite a few trees around but the plants get anywhere from about 10 hours to six hours and, after about four or five seasons, I've worked out what goes where. Though yield is down on them, I always put the spindly sparse heart types closer to the areas of dappled light and this works well. Cherries are low priority, best plants get the front of the beds. Plenty of light really. Couldn't handle any more maters

Loved my Prue, GMG PL, Missouri Love Apple tonight. Mrs Grub truly lapped up the Earl's Faux for breakfast. Did a taste test on Old Virginia...

Old Virginia: Interesting finely dissected, deeply dark green foliage on a medium-height indeterminate that bears a heavy crop of medium reds fruit. It is a late-season tomato. The fruits are quite firm and with thickish skins, making me think it could have been a decent old commercial type, if it already wasn't. Nice tomatoey taste with some surprising sweetness. It's not a not-your-sock-off one by any means, but a workhorse type. Note: The fruits seem to ripen all at once, further underscoring it's possible past as a commercial type. Flavour: 7/10 plus 0.5pts for yield and 0.25pts for interesting plant habit - 7.75/10. Posibly 8/10 by the time I harvest and eat them all.

Thanks for the report Grub. Whats your pick of yours so far to add to my list for next spring
My Box Car Willie pumped out fruit like OV. Guessing the taste would be something about your rating (emoticon for hands in the air
Don't think I will grow it again. I think pinks , blacks and greens are my go, with maybe Kellogs Breakfast in there. College Challenger is a fading memory eh.
