I don't expect packages until October. So, I think there is plenty of time to do a germination test. |

Tormato,
I am packing up seeds. Can you tell me your preferred method (the Easy button) for how you would like to receive each 10-packs-of-seed for entering categories? I assume it is easier if packs for each category are kept separated. |

There might be a few other methods I forgot about that are also a disaster. Rubber bands are OK. Sometimes people put about 50 packs together (5 varieties / 5 10-packs) with each rubber band. And, putting 10-packs into a larger zip baggie would work, as would paper envelopes. Others stack the packs together and insert them in the bubble mailer. Sometimes it arrives neat. |

I'm glad someone brought this up, here's 300 packs with printed labels wrapped in rubber bands.

Tormato - I saw an earlier post that said pepper seeds should be 10 seeds. I have leftovers from a commercial packet of sweet peppers (I sowed 4 seeds and got 100% germination). Is it ok to just do 5 seeds of these?

Is there a MMPM? Could anyone sponsor me on some peppers?

The pepper swap is smaller but included in the tomato swap. There are fewer categories I think, and not as much in general. Still last year I got plenty back, even with sending in some old seed (with a note saying I didn't need any peppers back). I can send you some this year. Might be able to sponsor you too, depends on categories you want.... |

Just so the pepper freaks know, I'm basing...
"mild" as up to several thousand Scoville units, "hot" as up to about Habanero heat (~350,000), "SUPERHOT" as mostly those around 1,000,000 Scoville units (or more) When sending in pepper seeds, hopefully donors will guess the right category. |

That makes it simple on the peppers. Most of what I'm sending in fit into both the ornamental and hot categories (Around 50,000 Scoville)
But you know I gotta throw in a monkey wench - there are some like Shish!to that are tame until you leave them on the plant out in the hot sun to turn red. And you bite into one and smoke starts oozing out your ears. |
