My 4 biggest tomatoes this year we're 7.13,7.18,7.25,and 7.45 lbs. I tried to upload the pictures but they must be to many megabytes or something, I may have to resize them.

Wow! Nice job. Thanks for posting. You know you can be very competitive in the big time arena with those monsters.

And you do know that most of what you show are from fused blossoms, also known as megablooms, so no need to save seeds from them since most of them would already be crossed.

Now if you have several acres to work with it might be fun to work with those seeds.

And I also presume you are aware of Dale Thurber's website, his section on BIG ones, not the general iist of what he sells seeds for.

Yes,they are all fused or mega blooms, but are very much worth saving seed from, that is how we've come to this size of tomato.

Nope, the size comes from all those fused blossoms actually leading to fruits. And the blossoms would have been self pollenized as well.

Here's some good reading and lots of links about megablooms , with pictures and also mentions the man who wrote THE book about megablooms as well.

I rather agree with Carolyn on this one. Yes, the variety does produce large tomatoes, however it is the number of fused blossoms that create the monsters. So by saving seeds, what you may really be doing is saving genetics that produce plants that have a tendency for producing more megablooms.

For the monsters, you need large fruited plants that put forth flowers that have many megablooms on them.

Are you sharing seeds?

So what happens when you pollinate them yourself, because that is what we do.
