Protecting tender potted plants
Depending on the news source, it was 33-35 degrees last night. If I don't want to lose potato vine, begonias, possibly tropical hibiscus, possibly croton, coleus, and poinsettia, I have to take measures. The pots that are carry-able are put in the dining room and the ones too large to pick up I put sheets over. Holding up the sheets are tomato cages. This was for the stuff on the front porch.
The stuff on the back porch went into the garage.

A lot of work!
I’ve gotten blasé about the various jasmines on the patio but I bring in the orchids. |

It is a lot of work, but worth it to me. My DH helps with the heavy lifting. Jane, do you have plumeria? Those would need to be protected.

I let all my stuff die when my wife wasn't able to mess with it while I was gone.
She tried bless her heart but I told her no. I had all manner of stuff growing from pineapples to San Pedro cacti. It didn't bother me a bit to let it go considering the circumstances. |

Plumeria
Jane, once you try them you will be hooked. These are from last summer. You will want several plants.

Tomatoes at Wal-Mart
They are in my area now. Lots of herbs and lettuce plants too. Great selection of summer flowering bulbs...some were exotics.
