Is Frogsleap still involved with the Artisan Seeds project? I have not seen any of his varieties offered for sale yet.

Hi Maf,
The joint-venture between Frogsleap and Baia Nicchia Farms ended last winter, before the Artisan Cherry tomatoes were released by Johnny's. Baia Nicchia now is now solely responsible for the Artisan Seeds brand, and Frogsleap will be developing things separately. Both farms continue to collaborate a bit, but are developing varieties independently. The Frogsleap Farm blog and Facebook page provide information about their exciting (and extremely colorful) progress. |

Artisan Seeds is looking for long-term collaborating members. Description here. Sign-up here.
Collaborating members get new varieties 1 year ahead of release. These will not be segregating varieties, although I will distribute F2 seed packets if they are requested as a substitute for one of the other varieties slated for distribution. Collaborating members will have to agree to NOT share (or sell) seed in the year that they get the seed. Collaborating members are free to share seed in subsequent years. Collaborating members will also have to agree that they will not sell F1 hybrid seed, and that they will not sell OP seed for the first 2 years following it's distribution to them. We will distribute seeds starting January 1, 2015. Our Collaborating Member signups will end March 30, 2015, or when we have signed up 50 members (whichever comes first). |

Sorry. Dumb post removed. I will try to post more intelligently in the future.

They will be generally available next fall through one or more prominent seed companies. Don't know exactly which ones for sure yet, and it probably won't be finalized for awhile.
We have 3 other new OP varieties to be released too, and all of those will be pre-released in January to our Collaborating Members, along with Jazz and Yellow Jazz. |

I just wanted to mention that it has been decided that none of the OP Artisan Cherry tomatoes currently released will be PVPd. Originally Sunrise Bumble Bee and Lucky Tiger were slated for PVP status, but currently the plan is to not follow up and complete the filing.
I am sorry for any confusion regarding this issue. Some catalogs, since they were finalized months ago still may list Sunrise Bumble Bee or Lucky Tiger as PVP varieties, but that is not correct. Anyone is free to sell seeds of either variety, as well as all of the other Artisan Cherry tomatoes. |

Wishing I could be in the SF Bay area that day...
Or just wishing I could legally import seeds to Australia and be a long term collaborating member... Just wishful thinking from down under Carl |

I've signed up for the Tomato Breeding class. Looking forward to it! I hope work doesn't somehow get in the way like it did last summer. Fred, thanks for doing these.
