Cool, Tom!

I found my very first tricot today.

It's a Galina's yellow cherry. I'm using Craig's dense seed starting method for the first time, so I hope I don't kill it during transplant.

Thanks! DH bought it for me. It is a Canon PowerShot A520 4.0 Megapixels. I don't know what any of that means, but I like it. He ordered it from WalMart.com, I think. It has a lot of nifty features.

I had a Quad-cot too!

Mine is an Ida Gold, it's doing really well as it's now a 6 week old plant about to be put in the ground in a week or so! How cool! All the rest of my seedling have been normal though.

No I didn't take any pics, I'm horrible with the camera anyways! The seedling was in pretty bad shape when it emerged because the seed coat wouldn't come off (I had to assist with the removal) so I'm glad it had the extra cotyledons to help it out. Now it is a healthy 8" tall and looks like a normal seedling, I'm gonna plant it outside this weekend along with the rest I'm happy to say!

I have a tri-cot this year as well. Right off the top of my head I can't remember what variety it is. It is the only one so far out of about 300, and I don't think I have ever had one in the years I have been growing from seed. When it came up I was a little surprised and really didn't know what to think. Like self-sufficient I was afraid to ask about it, I was afraid that people would say that there is no way it could have three, or yeah it happens all the time.

I was kinda hoping that it would grow an extra leaf when it gets it's true leaves, but I guess that's not gonna happen. It would be interesting to figure out how often this occurs, and if any one variety is more apt to have a triple or quad. I have one out of over 300, self-sufficient has 3 out of ?, and Tom has 1 quad out of ?. Maybe someone else can give their stats.

I got 1 quad-cot (lol) out of 100+
seedlings ~
Funny thing is, its growing fine
but it just looks like it does'nt know
what to do with itself (dwarf-like).
Its growing like an S shape ~
It's a Mort. Lifter - but def.
not "up to speed" with the others ...

My only tricot so far out of over 300 tomato seedlings is a Green Cherokee. It's about a month old now and shows no difference other than the three cotelydons.

I have a mutant pepper plant though. It's a Jalapeno Picante that had fused first true leaves that terminated its growth until just last week a side shoot emerged below the first true leaves. I'm waiting to see if more leaf pairs on this one are fused.

I was planting out some of my seedling yesterday and noticed an Oregon Spring tomato also was a tricot, I just never noticed because I didn't know anything about them at the time. That makes 4 tricots this year! I do wonder why I have so many
