Work with it Ray did ......... here are his results
Five plants from F1 #2 plant were planted; the yellows all ripened before the greens. #2 just beat #1 and #3, then came #4 and bringing up the rear was #5. Even so, it was a pretty close race. (all PL). … the plants are rangier than GMG, though they're not huge by any means. Quite 'well-behaved' really.

Would have liked to try more, but had to go with pursuing taste - so #5 it is; and a green PL cherry would be OK too
Seeded March 23, plants now F3; the smaller one was late germinating ....... planted out into permanent 5 gallon containers on May 17. I recall a few others are growing out this cross, so please feel free to post your results

Hi Denise,
Wouldn't the plants be F2's, grown with the F2 seeds, and their seeds be the F3's this fall? Someone explained this real well awhile back but I can still get it mixed up. My packets said F2 for plants #1 & 2. I will take some pics today of the progress. Sue |

Hmm, still get confused on this Sue - Ray received F2 seed from me, grew it out, and I am now on to his F3 seed I think?

Sorry, I am the one confused. I have the F2 seeds from you as indicated on the packet. You are one year ahead with the #5 plant of Ray's. I don't even have the #5 seeds but am growing out #1 & 2 from your growout last season.

Latest photos of Galina x Grubs F2. I have 2 ea. of #2 and 1 of #1. All have buds and seem to have outgrown that problem of the dried up borders around the leaves.

I just love these plants - such beautiful healthy leaves and lots of large cherry/saladette sized fruit setting .... only problem is I don't know if they will retain the green colouring .... and have been gently testing for a few days now - but still very firm

I'm growing three F2 plants from Galina's x GMG #1 (my plants P1-P3) and four plants from G x GMG #2 (my plants Q1-Q4). I'm seeing fruit of different shapes and sizes. Here are a few examples:

Good to see even more variation in these F2s. It's exciting looking at the possibilities.

I can't believe how fast Q4 ripened once it started showing color.
I had to leave the house for a short time this morning and when I returned several of my tomato plants in containers in the driveway had blown over in the high winds we are having today. Q4 was one of them! Several fruit were knocked off, including the unfortunate sibling pictured below. I was gathering bricks to weigh down the overturned containers when I discovered one of the geese had his head stuck in the fence. He had apparently come up from the bottom and couldn't figure how to get back out. Had to abandon tomato plants to rescue the goose. Farming is hard!!! |

I think you're right, Sue! Is it windy in Anchorage today?

No wind at all, just overcast.
