The raspberries did very well last year. Well until around Christmas when an evil rabbit mowed down all the canes. Boy was I mad. No raspberries in 2017 for us. Never expected rabbit problems on raspberries. The same fence I use on my gardens will get put around the raspberries.

Fast forward to now, the patch is coming in super thick. From reading it is recommended to keep 4-6 canes per foot row. That is what I intend. Should I thin now and during the growing season or let it grow and prune in the late fall to the desired thickness. If it wasn't clear these are the type that fruit on 2 year old canes.
