Why are you forcing me to choose a maximum of just TWO cherry varieties, that just isn't fair but OK, I'll do what I'm told to do:

Green Zebra Cherry
Casino Chips

And if something BAD happens to those two, which can happen, my backups would be:

Galina's
Chadwick's Cherry

And if the backups didn't work out maybe

Verde Claro
Iva's Red Berry

I think you get the picture.

Thanks Tracy

I found it hard to believe that Carbon Copy was not a favorite of anyone

I still predict it will be the next SunGold and BlackCherry challenger for number one wanted cherry tomato.

I am definitely sold on it however I might be a little prejudiced.

For a hot weather area like yours, I would chose Porter as one of my two. Very productive.

Do you have a Trader Joes in your area?

Here is a pack of OP/Heirloom cherries that I bough and I am growing some of them that I like, especially the larger ones.
No names though, sorry.

Grew Black Cherry last year, they were great! I recommend them or the Sweet 100s.

Chocolate Cherry is available this year and I am thinking of growing them. Any comments from anybody that has grown them.

My biggest problem is keeping my Dad from poaching 'em, LOL.

Last year, I LOVED the Carbon Copy cherry tomato. It beat out the other 9 cherry varieties that I grew. I also loved Sungold F1, Russian Cherry, Jagodka and Pipo.

There are very few really flavorful pink cherries. I wouldn't be without pink cherries. When fully ripened in hot sunny weather the flavors excel.

Sweet Treats f1 stands out,
Nectar f1 is similar

Jolly f1 is larger and ripens very slowly, but is also superb.

So the answer to this is build more beds and I can dedicate whole beds to cherry tomatoes Carolyn- you crack me up! Thank you everyone- I am amazed on all the great info you all provided!! This season will be exceptionally long... Started early Feb and unless the 100's come before May we should still have another 2-3 months of great weather! YES!!

i will add alston everlasting

the two cuttings i took from my potted plant last fall have survived the winter inside. they aren't much to look at, but i have three more cuttings from the original ones potted up, and will take a couple more just in case. if all goes well, i should have some seeds to share later on in the year.

I agree with wilstech. Porter isn't a cherry, it does very well in hot and dry or humid areas. Basically is golf ball sized. If you have room for a bed of Porter tomatoes, grow them if you like smaller tomatoes. They are my #1.

Cherries are my money-maker as a market grower.

I grow all of Fred Hempel's Artisan varieties. I also grow Chang Li, a Chinese yellow pear I love. Dancing with Smurfs, White Cherry, and Sungold were also included in my mix. I am trying a lot of new varieties this year, including the others in the "sun" line, sun green, sun lemon, sun chocola, and sun peach.

And it's a saladette, not a cherry, but Black and Brown Boar is a great variety to try. The fruit are beautiful and taste great.

This is neat. I would have never even heard of most of these. I am definitely going to try carbon copy too! Sweat Treats possibly? We hit 92 yesterday so warm afternoons in early spring is normal Also, all the artisan varieties have looked great... Meant to get see for them this year but I guess I will wait until next season. I grew Porter last year. It was good but it wasn't so great that I remembered to grow it this year.... Gardeneer-I do have a TJ's near me. Never thought of doing that? Though I have saved seeds from farmers markets tomatoes...
