It looks like they may have been bought out or the company split somehow. Their address is different now than it used to be. Interesting, I wonder what is going on?

There is actually a different site now for Gourmet Seeds International, and the address is the same as the old Harvest Mood, in New Mexico rather than Indiana.
The site looks more like them.

I wonder if they sold their old name to another family run operation, or if it still in the same family.

Thanks spyfferoni, that is the site that I was looking at before. The only thing is that the google search would only show the Harvest Moon site and they are at the www place that Gourmet Seed International was originally. On the intro page at Gourmet Seed it said that this was a merger between two family companies, Harvest Moon and Harris Wholesale Nursery. I assume since Harvest Moon is gone that this must be just Harris Wholesale Nursery.

I looked and they are no longer supplying seed from that English seed company. I'll do a google search and see if I can find the english cucumbers.

This taught me a lesson. If I see them I should buy them, they might not be there later.

Lore, there are other places that sell so called English cukes.

Which varieties are you looking for and have you googled them?

I googled and found the Chelsea cucumbers at Renee's seeds, I had been interested because Gourmet seed was importing the seed packets from an english seed company, but I'm not going to be that picky about it.

Hey LoreD,

The English Seed Company that used to be linked to on the main Gourmet Seed webpage is now reachable by:
http://www.fothergillsusa.com

Although it appears to still be run from Gourmetseed.com, there's no link to it on their main page. For some reason, last season the Fothergills seeds were cheaper (on the Fothergill's site run by them) than the very same seeds on their main website. They also still have their Italian seeds -- at http://www.italianseedandtool.com
You can also get to the website by clicking on the "Links" option in the left margin.

Not sure which cucumber variety you were/are looking for. Hope that helps!

Ive ordered from them for 2 years now, im pretty much full up for seeds this year.

quantities are amazing, and i dont remember turn-around time being too long either. they have a neat selection of greens, their Milan turnips are the tastiest!

I had placed an order with Harvest Moon earlier this year and happened to get a phone call from one of the reps over there regarding an item that was out of stock. I had inquired about the affiliation of the two companies and it turns out Harvest Moon and Gourmet Seed are no longer affiliated. Although their product lines and seed sources are similar, Harvest Moon is its own company separate from Gourmet Seed.

I have ordered seeds of various Italian greens from "Seeds of Italy" and
"Italian Seed & Tool Co." I received generous quantities at fair prices along with great service and I feel confident in recommending them both to you.

Yes Larry, I use them too and they are v generous with the seed quantities. I am actually after Zucchini Bianca di Trieste and some special onions that the GSI group carried.

I understand from a different website that rates vendors that a lot of folks are having trouble with Harvest Moon. However, I've only ever had one order issue with Gourmet seeds out of several placed, and they quickly resolved it, resulting in some free seed.

However, they do have a curious comment about Carolyn under the "Dr. Carolyn" tomato entry that could be interpreted as a compliment or as a snide remark...

Gourmet Seed has a great catalog, but their shipping charges are outrageous to say the least. It's one thing to make a living, but not a killing. They do not only have a flat rate, but they charge a % for each packet of seed ordered.
