I had an infestation of stinkhorn along the side of my property in some mulch I had spread. It was the worst, the smell lingered and spread around my whole house.. And it was crazy trying to get rid of it.. I am solidly not a fan.

I keep eyes and nose peeled all the time in case any spores try to sprout up. There is no mistaking the smell, that’s for sure. Luckily no more have turned up.

Tiny colony of fungus
Found this growing In a pot filled with nothing but potting soil. I have no idea what this is.

I wonder if the tops will open up into caps. I checked the mushroom field guide I have but didn't see this. Keep us updated!

Could be slime mold. My PhD neighbor expert (is on vacation and unplugged). Will report back in about two weeks.

I'd guess it's a gilled fungus/mushroom of some type. Maybe keep your eye on it and see if it develops like this: https://www.mushroom-appreciation.co...mushrooms.html

The tops opened up into caps and then the thing withered and dried up.

This is what it looked like today, I had to pick up the stem because it was dried up and withered.
