Ami, thanks for the list. Some internet booksellers have way too many choices of books that I really don't need.

I thought that Miracle Gro Organic Bonemeal was really organic. I'll finish
using the bag I have left and next year I'll see if I can find the Espoma Bone meal. I hope that one's organic. |

Bone meal takes awhile to break down in the soil. One normally
starts to see results in the growth of the plants in soil or container mix amended with it about mid-summer, in my experience. (I used a box of it long ago, not for vegetables particularly, but just on flowering perennials around the yard and container plants. These days I use rock phosphate to add phosphate to garden beds, under bulbs, etc, where the results are less dramatic than bone meal but it lasts a lot longer in the soil. One application is good for 5 years at least.)

Not to say this is not organic, but I wouldn't buy it under the assumption it was. There is no organic badge, and I do not know if the cows whose bones were crushed to make this were raised using organic feed (probably not). I would be cautions of other amendments or contaminants as well. I have used this stuff, though. It does take time to break down. Bone meal in general is considered organic.

This is probably one of the better sites that cater to the organic grower and they tell you like it is about organic growing and products. Ami
