Yes, that's why I thought that it was a weakness with the variety, Benevento was extremely vigorous grower but because of it not being as blemish free as I'd like I put it on the back burner for now,may try it again another year. Love the flavor and texture. I'm a sucker when it comes to bi-colors and deep orange tomatoes. I'd love to try any of your new bi-colors and orange whenever you breed more. Keep up the good work!!

What were the beefsteaks that did not show cracking?

I remember that KBX was right next to it on one side but I don't remember what was on the other side of it,that was outside but in the high tunnel I had orange strawberry next to it and an orange oxheart that I've been growing for quite a few years.

I am growing Beneveto right now under very intense sun and no splitting so far.
1 plant in an Earthbox, and 2 plants in Fabric bags. I will try to get pictures.
Also, the tomatoes in the Fabric bags are huge.

I grew the RJH (seeds in error) earlier and don't remember any splitting. Also, no funky bottoms.

Fred, on your old stuff - Pink Jazz, Orange Jazz, I don't remember them splitting either, and production was good, but in Florida they always had big cores.

On the Amalfi, I have basically no splitting, even on my 8 month old plant.

I have had no issues with shoulder cracking grown outdoors here on either RJH or Benevento the past two years.

Here it one of my Benevento plants today. I was trying to get a picture from the top, but couldn't.

Our Florida season starts Sept 1 thru mid-June. Where I live, it is the nighttime lows that matter. We were already seeing 72-74 but a cool front (<70) is coming..woohoo.

So we had horrendous weather for a week. 5 days of 30 MPH sustained wind and then 2 days of heavy rain. It's beautiful today and should have good tomato weather for a couple of weeks.

Here's a couple of Beneventos. Stripes are not as vivid as I've seen in pictures. I picked right before the day with 4" of rain.

These were grown in a grow bag; the Beneventos in the Earthbox has more tomatoes but significantly smaller. I feel like pulling the EB mate out to see if that makes a difference.

I am very happy to grow Benevento.

BTW - On Brad's Atomic Grape, my colors weren't as vivid as the pictures either. I don't grow it anymore. I grow GGWT every year and those stripes are very vivid. I usually will pick before fully ripe so the stripes get more vivid inside.

This is my first one to eat, grown in an Earthbox and smaller tomatoes than the ones in the fabric bags. It was very good.
