That is insane. I expect to have a few but mostly tomatillos.
Looks like someone had a tomato fight, end of season. Put a sign out 'pick-your-own-tomato-plants'. (like the strawberry people) Would appreciate a row of cold temp survivors grown out. Us Northerners need more hearty varieties. ....nice thought. |

Ha, coincidentally I just planted 3 "What Are They"s also, in their own special area. My volunteer seedlings appeared in a new strawberry container, where I used the remains of potting mix from the small pots I sowed seeds in weeks ago. When I repotted the small seedlings, some seeds in the mix did not germinate so I dumped it all in a container and used that as a top dressing or mulch. Lo and behold I soon started seeing several sprouts. Too many in fact. I would've liked to have planted them all just out of curiosity but have no room. Picked the 3 largest, of 3 different varieties (1 cherry, 1 regular leaf, 1 potato leaf). Kinda fun not knowing what they are!

I've noticed a couple of mega blossoms on some of them already. Do you guys think I would be better off just pinching them off and letting the plant energy go towards growth ?

I always like the looks of the megablossom tomatoes. I usually find them more beautiful than the ordinary tomatoes but I've heard it is better to remove them. (but I don't)

I on the other hand hate mega blossoms. I would pinch them off. it is personal preference is my opinion.

I like surprises; maybe that is why I love volunteers , especially those that sprout in the recycled potting mix.
