11X
11x is one of the few varieties I'm growing this year which has yet to form buds. In the first photo are the two 11X F6's and the plant on the right is Pinocchio Orange, for comparison. I'd say right now it is comparable in size to Andrina.
Edit: I may have worded that poorly -- I meant to say the 11x plants are the size of Andrina at this time. Pinocchio Orange is a good bit taller. Last edited by Sherry_AK; May 7, 2019 at 04:29 AM. |

2 Varieties of Micro Dwarf
Looking for advice
Doug sent me two seed packets to try. Both packets of seed were started on the same day Feb 19th in the same starting mix Jolly GardenerPro-Line Germinating Mix in the same type cups. They were grown under my Jump Start Grow Lights One was MMF x GGWT F5 HRT LG CH RL and didn't germinate as well and only had two plants. and the other was MMF x GGWT F5 LG LA It was almost 100% germination I have planted out the MMF x GGWT F5 HRT LG CH RL in a large pot. it is doing great. I have attached a pic of it growing in its pot. Sorry I couldn't get it to rotate. I have multiple plants of the MMF x GGWT F5 LG LA but the leaves look funny on all these plants. Older leaves have started to shrivel but the new growth looks pretty. I just don't want to plant them out and they are diseased. These are the other 2 pictures with the plants still in their 4 inch pots. Any ideas what is going on with them and should I just chunk them? Start more seed? |

Not sure they are diseased friedgreen. A bit pale with more top growth, (height), than
what I look for. Looks like some sort of stress maybe. Are they outside? Dan sends lots of seed so I start many and cull and keep in small pots for some time. Final grow out pot is commercial gallon, about 1/2 gallon in reality. For a micro I look for under 10inches. That is a big pot you put your healthy one in. The 11x line I've been growing that I just sent scooty is at F8. Saved from two separate grow outs the past few years. This season needed zero culling having all plants in micro height. Proving near stable. As soon as I get fruit, maybe mid June, I start another tray for Fall growing indoors. Small pots. 2018 pic circled is LadyWilliam (working name) selected as the best and the only plant I saved seed from. Larger cherry (SCharles) was saved from one plant as well. Scooty should be getting some very close to stable seed. (top pic is in 4inch pots. Bottom pic is in final 1/2 gallon bags.) |

May 4th pic last week. Had to get these outside and face the weather. No room inside and sun
is high in sky so no sunny south window. They seem fine. Still potting up others when I have time. Tall in the back are Dwarf project. Far right is Artsy-varigated. |

Sorry, I had to take more pictures. I think I will end up having one staying outside in a 5 gal grow bag and one staying in the one gallon container indoor, to see the potential difference.

Max, continue to post! Love your pictures. (what is the 'rice' grains?)
I always suggest/support growing in a few different indoor/outdoor environments. Comparables support future growing for micros...Winter growing. Personally I'm not looking for 'food' by growing micros during the winter months... I just like the possibility/challenge of growing indoor beauties. (not much into traditional house plants) I grow indoor salads and herbs 24/7 all winter so tending a dozen micros is a cake-walk at the same time... |

The angora foliage is amazing. Oakley how close is your Piccolo gato to being stable? What are the fruit like? The plant is so pretty I would keep it just as a pet.

I used rice to prevent the fungus gnats, but there ended up some other larvae there but it doesn't seem to do harm to the plant. In retrospect it's probably better to use vermiculite, I just never buy vermiculite since I prefer perlite.

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to cull all of them except for the two shortest ones I didn't have a pic of. Is the large pot a problem or just a waste of space? If you have any extra F8 of the the 11x line I would like to try them. Thanks again. Your insight is much appreciated. Deborah |

that grew tall(ish) that I let cascade just for yucks. Will not save seed from those but they are full of bloom already. Anxious to start another tray having a few trays freed up from the others moving on to up-potting. No clue or notes about flavor yet. I've been pretty patient about the micros. Size first, then look for flavor. Odd I have no memory of taste but if it was a spitter I may have bailed... |

these are the 82x F2 fuzzy carrot leaves. They aren't as hairy as the picolo gato, I have 8 plants, probably will germinate 4 more. I'm more partial to the ones with thinner leaves.
