In an effort to confuse everyone, we have changed the name of our new tomato to "Green Bumblebee"
Now I just remembered that Tatiana named a segregant from Purple Bumblebee "Green Bumblebee" Hmmm... off to write Tatiana. |

Well, Tatiana is indeed still growing and selling Green Bumblebee, so we are now using "Green Bee" for our new tomato.
At least for now. Ugh. |

This tomato is so exciting and beautiful. I have the Kickstarter open so I can donate tomorrow when I'm less sleepy headed.

Exciting, yes! But I think that it's green-ness is not so beautiful to many. But hopefully that will change.
Thanks for the support. We really appreciate it. |

Back to the naming fiasco -- back in the day I wanted to name our series of striped cherry tomatoes "Bee" not "Bumblebee".
But collaborators argued strongly that Bees are scary and Bumblebees are perceived as cute and friendly, and that we should name them Bumblebees. Now I have an excuse for at least one Bee! |

Fred, I guess Green Hornet would be too scary?

.. and I think bees are cute and friendly. So involved in their work they don't bother anybody. At least unless someone messes with their nest or their flowers..

Fred:
It's fun to live vicariously! I just made a pledge - hope to hear updates as they come along. Good luck to you and your Green Bee project. Jeff |

My childhood nickname was "Bee," and sometimes, "Bumble Bee," and at other times... Um... "Beaster". Imagine my shock at age 16 when I learned what the last one was.
Anyway! I'm gonna make a pledge in about 5 minutes. So excited! Eeeee. |

Fred, are the rin lines green only, never any other color?
Just wondering because I appreciate and applaud the combination of firmness and taste! Firmness has its virtue and its place. |

There is a hint of yellow in the surface and/or pink beneath, but only a hint. The photographs in the kickstarter show the degree of coloring up (which is very minimal)
