If you ever get in this situation again, tie off enough strings to your structure over the plant and with each string twist it around the stems all the way to the bottom. (Same as how tomatoes are twisted in a commercial set up, one stem rotation spread over 15 inches). Using one tomato clip around the bottom, tie all strings off around the lowest part of the stem. This was is how we did them on a commercial scale and it works quite well. I have a youtube on twisting tomatoes if that helps.
