I have four different orange cherry OP varieties this year that I was hoping would replace Sungold. None of them are as good.

I also tried Sun Peach and Sun Chocola, and I like them a lot, especially for market.

I imagined Sun Peach as dark orange -- just now realizing that it is pink.

In the Bay Area Momotaro has become a popular replacement for Earl Girl -- partly because of Early Girl's owner, and partly because it is gosh darnoodley good and can be dry-farmed like Early Girl.

My area is right across the state line from Newark, Wilmington, DE. Varieties
popular here are Big Boy, Better Boy, Big Beef, Supersonic, and Jetstar
although it's harder to find Jetstars lately. Years ago, Supersonic and
Jetstar were extremely popular.

Momotaro has been the ONLY hybrid I've grown in the last 15 yrs. and is the only "Must Grow" variety "for me" every year. In my early tomato growing years I grew mostly hybrids, and went thru all the usual suspects, but never found one that could compare to Momotaro "for me". These days I grow OP Heirlooms with the exception of 2-3 Momotaro plants, in amongst 15-20 other Heirlooms every year.

I grow Big Beef and my neighbor has about three hundred Old Fashioned Goliath. He has been growing them for a long time and they are the only tomato that I would say rivals BB for size and productivity. I read once that some places in Missouri favor the OFG for a market tomato too.

Do you know where to find OFG?

Is it different than regular Goliath?

My neighbor down the street swears by Bush Goliath. He has 70 plants and the majority are Bush Goliath.

Here in the UK the latest popular new varieties seem to have claims of blight resistance. Our climate is somewhere in the middle of the road and it's said that blight is the main issue we have, so varieties like Crimson Crush have had a lot of publicity.

I'm trying Sungold and Beefmaster - I can't tell which is my favourite as it my first time growing and I haven't had a mater yet

At the local nursery, there are about 10 tables of tomatoes. 4 of them are exclusively Better Boy. Everyone I've talked to grows Better Boy.

I hope you get a Beefmaster!

I grew up in Florida. This is a big kidney bean tomato. A true beefsteak.

Throw some salt on it. Sprinkle olive oil.

You will need a fork and a knife!

I actually do wonder what people are growing here in Germany. I see a lot of house gardens with some well cared tomato plants. They usually are the boring red round cluster tomato, but with a particularity: very short internodes usually which makes them easy to stake (indeterminates). Cherry tomatoes seem a rarity here for some reason, there's tons of types in the stores for selling.

I hope so too CamuMahubah! I have 2 Beefmasters growing, but it's painfully slow here so far this year so it might be 6 weeks or so until I can break out the olive oil and salt - which sounds really good!

I like the most Tomatoberry Garden, it looks fantastic (small hearts) and tastes even better.
