One week later, the middle thingy is more like a fuzz ball with extras. There's no significant increase in height. It's got a very good root system. It's in a 4" pot and I'm using a bamboo skewer as a support stick.

Yes, Ted - that plant is indeed showing the very unusual growth trait. That could be a developing blossom in the center! let's see what it does!

Got some better pics of the center "fuzzball". Also, some of the little sawtooth leaf-like "bumps" on some of the tendrils. The plant is now 10 inches tall. It has been hardened off and will get its own piece of sunlight beginning tomorrow afternoon. I'll also bring on some pics of the normal-looking PL1, PL6, and RL4 plants - which are doing great.

Kat, just for you. Here's two pix's I just ran out and shot. It is starting to rain again here, so I did these in a hurry. It is taller by about 6 inches and the "furr-ball" has not changed. The plant does not exhibit anything that remotely resembles a bloom or bloom pod.

I am having a hard time getting mine to mature enough to plant for some reason. I am thinking I am going to plant those in tainers and just see what happens. I will probably start some new ones for my fall garden. If I can only get a few tomatoes to ripen before they freeze I can still get seed. I have 2 lucky cross plants fruiting now so I was hoping to compare the flavors. maybe I can keep Lucky going through the hot summer and still have a comparison.

MULE UPDATE

Well, still no sign of anything that would remotely resemble a bloom pod.

I'll put it in a larger pot in a couple of days and let's see where it goes from there.

When I tell folks that I have some plants that I grew from seeds that I got from Europe, they look at this thing and then ask if I got those seeds from Chernobyl.

I am having a hard time gettig mine to grow. I might have to replant and put out for fall. Sorry if I have failed you! These are the only tomatoes I have had that problem with

I definitely wasn't going to plant them at my surrogate garden at work. I could see myself trying to convince some ground pounder that this is a tomato plant. Right Ami

Well, if you're patient, blooms may come. Ami, don't give up too quickly on those mules. Today I found four tips on the little plant that are trying to make blooms. They are tiny, but it inspires me to continue my patience.

Craig, we may yet see fruit. A quick question, please. If you were to project the final size of one of these PL6 plants, how large would that be?? Determinate, indeterminate, or ????? The reason I ask, is so that I can go ahead and move it to an adequate container. It is currently in a 3 gallon nursery pot.
